Pinus contortus man. I love the smell of evergreen christmas time when Im in the woods, and I love it in my beer. However, this is like asking "what do you like more, sex or other sex?" Hops is good no matter what.

it depends on the malt base for me.

I love both, sometimes it depends on the malt backbone. If it's a heavy syrupy malt platform I love Piney hops. If the malt backbone is light and cracker-ish I like citrus/floral forward hops.

What a question!? I love hops that are combined well throughout the boil, in combination with malts, and through to the dry hop addition. There are a good many things that make hops "pop", and I'm a fan of many combinations of hop, malt, and yeast. Yay beer!
    Cheers!

I like both depending on my mood. Sometimes I want an IPA that smells like gin and tastes like a pine tree. Other times I want an IPA that smells like sweet onions and weed and tastes like tropical fruit.
And sometimes I want one that has both!

citrus now, used to like pine until I had a sn torpedo for the x-time and it tasted like pine soap for some reason and now that's all I pickup in piney hop beers

Citrus for sure. I find piney hops can make a beer too aggressive to enjoy at times.

Citrus/tropical mostly. To often piney & resinous hops can set on my tongue in an unpleasant way. Having said that Dirt Wolf is a great example of an IPA with piney notes that just hits the mark perfectly.

Both. Balance is key. Heady Topper is exquisitely balanced with pine and citrus.
I am used to DIPAs being heavy in citrus and/or pine. Tropical citrus is less common, but I like both.

I think the balance is very important, but there are great examples of when one tips the scales versus the other flavor profile. Resin is a perfect example of well, the resin piney notes. A well balanced example is Head Hunter. Wow is that an awesome and readily available brew!!!

A balance is always what I find pleasing, but if I could only have one.. It would have to be citrus. This could change depending on the malt profile as well as the other brewing additives.

I prefer earthy, grassy, or spicy hops - so, "neither" :stuck_out_tongue:

All it takes is one HF Susan or a Zombie Dust and Citra becomes the magical hop, even though Susan is a blend it must be dry hopped to hell with Citra because Citra is all I can taste.
