My ever-changing palate is starting to find a lot of DIPAs to be too sweet.

    Examples:
Previously liked but I'm finding a little too sweet these days: Sucks, Hopslam
Borderline too sweet: Pipeworks "Ninja" series

Anyone have suggestions for a DIPA that's a little more dry without going extremely out of balance and into Arctic Panzer Wolf land?

Also funnily enough I had my first sucks of the season last night and immediately thought it was too sweet. I get where ur coming from. We have a local one from Good People Brewing called SnakeHandler that's a more bitter beer as well.

Never had it, but I'd imagine SN Torpedo would be up your alley.

Usually they tend to have big malts, too. You might try finding some super-fresh bottles of Ruination and Maharaja.

A few that come to mind that have broad distribution.... and it's hard to say what sweet is since everyone is going to taste the malt backbone differently based on their palate. You have to have some kind of malt/grains in order for the DIPAs to carry the larger amount of hops and the higher alcohol.

I didn't think Pliny was too sweet. I will also back up the SN Hoptimum recommendation. Also, Founder's Double Trouble...

Had a Hop Ranch a couple of nights ago. Still a little too sweet for me. I did enjoy the tropical fruit (but not the slight onion).

First beer that came to mind. Has that bitterness where there's a little char to it even. Also, recent batches of Enjoy By have been sweeter, IMO. Also, I think Hoptimum is also sweeter now than it used to be. I remember the bombers of it being a lot more dry and piney.

Ruination is a great recommendation, but Maharaja is one of the sweetest DIPAs I've had. Perhaps I've never had it super-fresh...

Wow, I didn't find it sweeter than a normal IPA at all. And I get no onion at all. Ain't palates a funny thing?
