I'll start with the fact that I am some what newer at trading and missed some signs that I have now found in forum threads..IE: no picture, no trade feedback. BUT, his profile said he was a member since 08! Being on BA for 6 years I would have thought he would know what its all about. Also mentioned he worked for a distribution co. and was actually inline for a job at Bells. Should be a good guy...RIGHT?! Anyway, sent him roughly $50 worth of Surly goodness including a Darkness that he needed for a tasting. I even expedited it to make sure he got it in time and to make it got through our short warm weather window we had recently. I even got a couple text messages from him stating he was heading to ship my stuff and would send tracking info. Then he went dark. No text, no BMs (even though he has logged on since). I found him on facebook and he was posting picks of his tasting and behold there was the Darkness!! It was a huge tasting so I am hoping some other BAers may have been there and know that this guy hasn't held up his end of the bargain and maybe kick him in the ass! So out about $50 in beer and another $30ish in shipping. Like people say, don't trade if you cant afford it so I will chalk it up as sometime you just end up finding someone that shouldn't be on here. Really my question and what I'd love feedback on is should I out him by name? I have his name, address, phone, facebook link, linkedin link. I just dont want anyone else to fall for his scheme if he has multiple IDs on here. Thanks BAers.
You have a lot of places to contact him, have you tried those other places? If I was you I would hound the shit out of him on those other places, especially on Facebook where he posted pics of your beer. How long has it been since last contact from him?
Unfortunately, seems like you got scammed..Sorry to hear..but it would help if you answered questions above...Maybe @jcdgoad will actually man up and respond...
The one last week? How recently was this? Not to try to defend the guy but if it were that recently perhaps he just hasn't had time to respond. I get that you clearly went above and beyond, but it might be a little early to determine he's not coming through. Hope you get your beer OP.
Hey All, Last communication I got from him was Jan 15 and he was to have sent it on the 13th. I'd love to think it's just a matter of not waiting long enough! We were going back and forth on text and BM and I've sent him about 4 of each since with no response. Like I said, he's logged on since and has posted to Facebook so I am fairly sure it's not a MIA do to something wrong. Thanks for the feedback!
UPDATE! So, I hounded him further and he has replied! Says he'll ship Monday and had no good excuse for not shipping already. Least he manned up and seems to be getting this one done. I appreciate him doing so and will update if he comes through!
I am doing a trade right now with a guy that has been on the site since 09, but has little to no 1-posts 2-likes 3-beer karma. So I asked him to ship first. Easy Peasy. The sticking point is when both traders dont have alot of those. Then it becomes a "I hope this works" kinda trade. Good luck OP
@BigGene - definitely but I only had 1 trade rated at the time so went with the I hope this works approach! Seems he will make good so I am excited to get the beer I've been wanting to try!
I said I'd update so here it is. I got the beers today + some extras. Little slow but he came through! Probably ok to delete this thread if the admins want.
As I suggested in the Feedback thread, this is a primary case for having a 3rd trade rating other option in addition to "Negative" and "Positive" such as "Neutral". Because it worked out in the end, I'm guess OP won't mark it as "Bad", but it's far from a "Good".
