Let me clear this up so you or others don't get the wrong impression. While I did say I felt "salty" about it, in no way am I upset to the point that I would stop trading. I'm sure you're right that this happens. It just happened to be my first time and figured I ask others about their bad experiences. I started trading in May of last year and the number of good people I've met or dealt with far outweighs the bad(in my experience). It's a shame that your experience led you to stop trading but obviously everyone reacts differently.
Shoot me your address and I'll send you a local beer expecting nothing in return except that you reconsider giving some great BAs another chance to get rid of that "bad taste". And if you don't, so be it.

    Cheers!

Fair enough on that point if someone rubs you the wrong way or acts like a jerk. The issue I have is I think (my opinion) it is wrong to post an ISO get exactly what you were asking for and agree to the trade and then back out because someone came in after with a better offer.....but to each there own. Do your homework before you post on what is a reasonable offer. I agree about trading w prior traders as a preference and that is mostly all I do and I check w prior traders for interest even before posting in the general forum.

bad form? jeez, I guess so. but he didn't leave you sitting in a parking lot waiting on a meeting that never happened, at least.

That more to the story seems to be lacking several details bud. I also bought beer for a trade so I could give you fresh IPAs and hauled beer 5 hours to an event and carried the 8 beers around with me from 2-11pm (took and hour to drop my allotment off somewhere in between there). You were most certainly not waiting on me as i arrived before you and left after. I sent multiple messages, prior to the event, as soon as I got there, and during. Making sure to mention what I was wearing to help identify me. I did not have a so for problem with any of the other 5 trades I had done that night walking around looking for them among the crowd. During the event you did eventually let me know that you would be leaving at 7. Unfortunately I was on my way to drop off beer at the hotel, and could have waited a bit until after the trade had I know at all in advance. I then hauled that beer back to the party only to find out your bus had just left. I felt bad the trade could not go through so I mentioned shipping, which you suggested an IP meet up today. Earlier in the week I hanged my mind as it hand been a few weeks and offered my trade able beer to a buddy trying to get a huna ticket who in return would be offering me a huna. I then found out a good friend I served in the Marines with passed away and wanted to attend the funeral today.

Either way the IP would not have happened and the trade would have drug on. Two of the beers were Pipeworks Citra ninja and FFF which are always best enjoyed as fresh as possible. I politely sent a message explains the situation and appogized for the inconvenience. And you responded very rudely. Trades fall through, it happens. I appogized and was in every way right to not want to trade something I own. As for having to buy any beer, I highly doubt you went out and purchased a 2012 abyss, single '13 Peruvian morning, 13 bcbcs, and devil made me do it for this trade. You had the stuff on your FT list and did not go out of your way to buy any of this just for me. You are absolutely right you could leave negative feed back over a trade that simply just fell through. I'm my opinion that would be pretty low and show more on character, then me having to back out on a trade. You sent me the trade request prior to the trade being done, after so many weeks it will allow you to cancel the request. Eliminating your need to complain about this any further. For the final time I will apposlogize for this trade not going through and rubbing you the wrong way. I can put you in contact with many other individuals who would gladly trade you citra ninja and zombie dust.

    Cheers,
    Chris

I have to agree with most of your post. I set up 3 IP trades at the CW Party & almost missed one of them (he was walking out when I caught him) because my stupid T-Mobile Blackberry only had coverage in about a 9 square foot area of the tent, & I really didn't feel like standing in that cold spot all night.

Meeting in a bank parking lot is one thing. Trying to find locate someone in a big crowd of drinkers milling around can be challenging if something goes haywire.

Agreed. The whole party was insane and I barely caught up with the 2 IP traders I had already arranged trades with. My cell coverage was nil and I ended up finding the IP traders through other BAs I knew who happened to be hanging around these people or already trading with them.

There are plenty of details, which your creative version of events seems to omit. I'll be happy to supply them to anyone interested (and will CC you if I do so) and have the text msg log to back them up, but I'm not going to get into a public pissing match about it here.

On the beer, I did go out and buy a fresh four-pack of DMMDI and brought that and a four-pack of CW BB Scotch Ale for you (since PM was available at the party), along with the Abyss and two BCBCS.

On me responding "very rudely" to the first of multiple stories from you about why you were backing out of the trade after all of the above, here's the entire text of my message: "I'd just like to note that you contacted me to request this trade."

There's more, like the way you berated me for not being grateful that you messaged me at all about backing out (instead of just going silent), but I've had enough of this.

Kinda curious here, consensus is too many trades are about winning trades. So what does the forum think of the completely ridiculous asking price on a single bottle of KBBS? Well over $200 worth of beer, did I see one looking for a Dozen Cantillions plus. If that's not winning don't know what it's called.

I always assumed that "winning a trade" meant that you had given significantly more than you got, and was surprised that some view it the other way around.

I do believe "winning" trades has taken on a meme-like life of its own. I have run into a handful of people like this over a couple hundred trades, but they seem to be few & far between. Perhaps part of the reason is that if someone exhibits asshole-like tendencies during messages, my response is always to say "thanks but no thanks" & move on.

Seems like 98% of traders are somewhere between decent & awesome, but the 2% get a disproportionate amount of the keyboards strokes.
