This is probably a stupid question but is KBS going to be leaving the brewery on april 1st so it will hit distro areas within the next month or is it like Bourbon County where stores get it earlier and are told not to sell it until that date?

 

You should start to see it in stores on April 1st or most likely April 2nd. The brewery ships out the beer in March, and the distributors aren't allowed to sell it til April 1st. The bottle release at the brewery is April 1st, and they don't wNt it getting released before that release party.

I can't speak for Michigan prices but I would love to pay $20 for a 4 pack in IL (or even have the opportunity to buy a 4 pack)

 

I can honestly say that @TastyDelicousness is what he says he is...him and I were fortunate enough to score a ticket for '13 KBS @ Founder's along with a few other of our friends. When we went to drop off the goodies in the car, a guy was walking his dog w/ a lil bit of a down face. We yelled at him asking if everything was ok? Guy was a pit-bull lover and had one with him on the chain. We BS'd for a few and found out the guy couldn't score a ticket/let alone get a single bottle. TastyD literally set his allotment down and busted open his box and handed the guy 2 bottles of KBS. Not because he had to, or he felt sorry for him...it's just what him and I believe in and what other BA members should abide by. I myself gave away a few of my 4pks to ppl who've never tasted it or loved it and couldn't take the trip.

Just remember what it's like on the outside looking in...its a beer nothing more! And if you can maybe start a friendship by being good people and have a fondness for tasty treat, split the bottle or give it away. That's how we came across @Lkoro...and we thank our lucky stars everyday we met him and he's part of our crew now!

Since I'm one who "hopes to score a case" of KBS, I'd have to agree with you. It seems to be a "dog eat dog" world in the craft beer universe. Mainly the fault of beer distributors who don't know how to order to meet their demands. While I might get lucky procuring a case of KBS (because Founders is quite plentiful in SE PA)...I have to hunt around for a single bottle of BCBS (and forget about any variants!). That said, I'd get whatever I plan on drinking for the next year and some extra to "fairly trade" with others for beers I never see around here.

Here's a better idea! Just start a bottle share and we can crack some good beers. I know a guy a that started one in Grand Rapids before the KBS release. Maybe he'll do it . Hell I can offer up my friend's condo who has a NBA video game there to host.

 

This guy.... Always happy to throw down plans for another bottle share. Second best decision I made in my life.(First was the wife). Met a lot of awesome people we see at every event we attend. Soon as they announce the date, I will put something together. Cheers boys!

 

Hey I know that guy!?!? NBA JAM Arcade in a condo (Heavier than hell getting to the 2nd flr.) and a combo bottle share...where do I sign up? Yea, Founders needs to hurry up and announce the date so we can start putting together the KBS BS 2.0 together.

You are probably already aware of this, but distributors are usually lucky to see any KBS, and are lucky to see a half-dozen cases; last year Kunda told me they got 2. Customer lists for it usually number 10 or 20 times what they receive, and probably more. So unless one of these distributors is a close personal friend, or you spend thousands a year at one store, I wouldn't expect much.

Not sure which part of PA you're referring to. Could be true..I may not get it but I have my sources.
BTW: Wegman's had a whole bunch of 4-packs out right when they were released last year. Just bought one due to the $20 price tag. Shows me you're not totally accurate. Maybe regarding cases...but we'll see.

 

I'm being totally sarcastic as I'll be getting the usual case and a half this year.

 

I didn't say that no stores ever get it and it's never on shelves, only that distributors in SEPA that I've talked to about buying it all say they get very few cases and they are always spoken for months, if not years ahead of time. Meaning that Joe Schmo asking to be put on the list has no shot at a case unless 20 times more KBS shows up this year.
