I would have to go with whatever FW BA beer is hanging around. There always seems to be one available if you poke around.

For some reason, BCBS (not the variants, natch) was surprisingly easy to find in my area.

    Not complaining one bit.

I would chime in with Weyerbacher Heresy, an imperial stout that is tasty, cheaper than Weyerbacher Insanity (which is also very delicious), and never seems to garner the popularity that Insanity does, so you can usually snatch it up long after Insanity is gone.

Dominion Oak Barrel Stout and Palo Santo Marron I'd say. Those are always on the shelf.

BCBS : Knew a place that had 4 packs of '12 until 1 week before '13 was released.

    Palo Santo and Burton Baton.

If I could get Black Note year round, that just might take the cake for me. I can dream.

I say Dragons Milk and Palo Santo it's always available, and it has to be said Backwoods can be hard to find even when it's available.

Is insanity that easy to get in weyerbachers distro area's? I got a single bottle in a trade and thought that it was awesome, and worth seeking out again.

It is where I am in northern virginia. Its not that every store has it, but it doesn't fly off the shelves of the places that do get it. Its still a seasonal so it will eventually sell out, but it hit stores about a month ago and I can still go to a few places and pick it up whenever I want ($16/4pk).

For my tastes I think barleywines/scotch ales are better suited for bourbon barrel aging than stouts. I still love BBA stouts but Backwoods, Insanity, and BCBBW are probably my 3 favorite BBA beers.

Cuvée Freddy. I mean it's aged in oak barrels and for 6$ it's one of my favorite Oud Bruns.

Following the theme of the thread, I'd go with the Vintage JW Lees always sitting around.

Palo Santo is delicious, affordable, and boozy. Backwoods is also excellent, though it didn't hang around like it did last year. I would trade shelf turd BCBS for expanded distro on variants any day of the week.

I recently had Boulevard Smokestack series Rye on Rye and Imperial Stout and was blown away. Will definitely have to grab up a few bottles of each.

A crowd with pitchforks will show up at my house if I mention Alltech's Kentucky Bourbon (Ale/Stout)? I tried some recently and found that it was actually decent. The bourbon taste wasn't over-powering like many other BA beers i've tried.

Agree 100% with Labyrinth and Big Bad Baptist. Labyrinth is an amazing barrel aged beer that's relatively easy to find.

Alltech makes a Kentuckty bourbon barrel ale and a bourbon barrel stout. The ale is drinkable if not a little on the sweet side but the stout is a mess IMHO.

How about Rodenbach Grand Cru. That's world class and you can get it all over the place.
