Some pretty cool designs...I like matte black ones.

What about CANS? Screw copper stenciling and matt black finishes.

I see without a doubt the most important trend is the increasing number of offerings in CANS--hell just Centennial, Two Hearted and Oberon would be enough but there are a LOT more coming.

Cans are part of the package, not the package design. Also cans in craft are now commonplace, not exactly trending.

The article feels like it was written by an intern, who was given a mere 7 minutes to come up with something, anything really, before the deadline to fill space for their publication.

"apple inspired" by having "round curves" on bottles... As opposed to those square bottles we have all been drinking from?

But just think, first beer, then manischewitz will come rounded too! Exciting!

Can you see that women are starting to like craft beer so that matte black and not bad cartoons of flying dogs will find a place among the beer aisle and scream good taste. Like peroni's new sixpack design. It's a blue ribbon underneath the logo and on a white background. I have looked but I cannot find it on the interwebs. Very chic and screams "Girls! Buy me."

    That matte black is sexy.

I also think it would be really cool if science could figure out a way to put something on the can that tells me when my beer is cold enough to drink.

Aside from freeform, those are all terrible ideas.

I don't know how much it's going to trend up, but I'm already a fan of freeform and general artistic design. Magic Hat and Lancaster Brewing come to mind.

I think all of those examples look terrible, outside the hand-drawn examples for #5. Ok, and the Wakefield growler is pretty sweet.

No, the fact that these are bogus 'trends'. Round bottles? Yeah that's new. Hand-drawn craft beer labels? Never seen those before...

Prevalence and trending are quite different.

The fact that cans are no longer uncommon-becoming more common is true. The fact that more and more folks continue to expand the offerings into cans is true. That is a trend that continues to have an upward trajectory for craft beer.

The shape/style of that "package design" was discussed in the article. (Bottle shape) Package design for cans--in their various shapes, sizes-- IS relevant and for many consumers, a very relevant part of the choice at times for different recreational activities.
