yeah i think i am gonna take a half day on tuesday, make the drive up and hit a few spots...collect bottles on wednesday, have lunch at Founders...and head home. maybe visit Bare Hands in Granger or Greenbush on the way home. I really see no problems with doing the release this way. So awesome that it will be available on tap throughout the week in various places. well done Founders.

If Founders handed out hundred dollar bills with every 4-pack someone would complain that their bill was wrinkled.

I'll just get 2 4-packs from Walgreens like I did last year.

I live in GR and might not even get tickets, my bottle shop got 15 cases last year. I could get 2 or 3 4-pks and not have to wait in any lines....man I love GR. Ps don't ask where my bottle shop is, that's my secret spot....go find your own.

KBS is sent out to MI & 26 other states. No one cares about your shop.

If your shop got 15 cases, I doubt it's much of a secret. That's like saying Lincoln Park Binny's is my secret spot for bcbs

I am going to try to get tickets for the 3/22 because I will be in Las Vegas the other days. It will be worth the drive because I can have it on tap, the wife won't get too pissed about spending a lot of money on beer being that it is only 2 four pack limit. To me it's a win - win situation with the reduced allocation and then when my stores get it I will get my full allocation from them also for trade.

You would be surprised how many people have asked me where I get my beer after a post...so yes, plenty of people care about where to get KBS by the 4-pks.

Eh I guess thats a treat. Like Bourbon County being on tap in Chicago is a treat... It's everywhere and I'm surprised that KBS isnt in the general area of GR that time of year. Hell, KBS has been on tap in Chicago in the past 2 weeks in at least 1 place.

I don't see the problem with any of this. There is going to be copius amounts of KBS all over the city. It's a perk to live in the area. It's a treat for locals as Founders stated. Plus bottles will be a bonus, even at the 8 bottle allocation.

Did anyone get upset when Goose Island released Proprietors in Chicago only? It was their thank you to the local scene for the support. I see this as the same thing

Very well put....and totally agree. But sadly...many other Grand Rapids locals don't see it that way.

Isn't 8 bottles enough for any one person to drink? Why is having 12 necessary?

Considering I strike out every time I would be thrilled with one lonely bottle. The problem is not with Founders...I actually like this new method. It will be available to more people and more tickets for us to have a shot at.

I won't be complaining about the 8 bottle limit but I will play devils advocate. If the limit was 8 to begin with, few people would have an issue. In recent years the limit has gone from 24 to 12 now to 8. It does not matter what it is, if you take something away from people you are going to hear complaints.

I don't like the "isn't 8 enough" argument either. It paints those who want more as greedy, I do not think that is necessarily fair in every instance. When I could get 24 bottles, I could drink KBS throughout the year, it was simply a nice luxury to have. Sure, 8 is enough but 24 was awful nice.

This is very true (the dropping limits) and the kind of thoughtful response I was looking for. My take, however baseless and speculative it is as I don't know any decision-makers at Founders, is that Founders is choosing to spread it around more for more people to have every other month as opposed to fewer people having the luxury to have it every other week. Demand has been soaring, so Founders must feel that the status quo continues to be unacceptable as the next KBS Day comes along.

Plus, with the continuing growth of craft beer, Michigan has access to other great beers like Black Note, Bourbon County (for the most part..) and other beers that the likes of Shorts' and Kuhnhenn brew. It's not necessarily that KBS is the only option out there, even though it is one of the best.

    It is what it is.
