Those guys at Element are great and I believe they really believe in this philosophy. Plus they make some wild shit!

I feel that any brewery that hasn't hit the big time really should all be open and friendly to those who are interested in their work. Fortunately, there are large, successful breweries that have this philosophy as well, so maybe it's just the craft industry as a whole...

I think most every craft brewery feels this way; they may just not put it on a chalk board or say it in any other way (or maybe some do) to let us all know. Continuing to brew good beer is all the thanks and appreciation that I need.

It's a great sign, and very positive.

Now, when will someone here post something to create an argument on this thread? I don't believe I've seen one yet without some type of tension...

I went to Ravenous Brewing in Woonsocket RI yesterday afternoon, and I've never felt more welcome at any brewery. They're incredibly tiny right now, but not hugely ambitious or unrealistic in their goals. The owner/brewer was really friendly and more than happy to answer our questions- he seemed genuinely grateful for any interest in his brewery.

Dan and everyone else at Element are great people. The beers are pretty awesome too!

I do not feel this way at most breweries I visit.

Wow! That really makes me want to visit their brewery. Have enjoyed their bottles for awhile, but maybe it's time for a visit in my beer-wanderings.

While I'm sure the folks at Element are friendly, their prices are certainly not.

$17-$19 paper wrapped 750ml red ales and strong ales :grimacing:

Their stuff isn't cheap, but I've only seen that price range for a special release or two. I usually see their 3 flagship beers in the $11-$12 range, which still prevents me from buying them often, but I like to splurge on Dark Element every now and then.

never been to element, but talked to some of the people from there at beer fests. very passionate, very gracious. was happy to try their beer, and liked how enthusiastic and welcoming they were.

wish i liked their beer more. it's not even bad at all; everything i've had by them has been pretty good if not really good, but just not really to my taste. would keep giving them a try though.

One reason to visit - $13 growlers fills! Cheapest way to get some!

The owners truly are welcoming, awesome guys and will take the time to chat and show you the space if they're not too busy.

If you are paying that you should find a new store to shop at. We sell RG/ESO at $9.99+dep and DE at $11.99+dep. Special releases, etc may vary but those are their core beers.

I haven't paid it for that exact reason. In my few experiences with Element beers, I think they're decent but there are much better/cheaper options available.

And I don't live anywhere near Acton

I would recommend contacting someone at Element and letting them know the crazy pricing you are seeing. While our pricing is lower than industry standard markup, I can assure you that the pricing you stated is substantially higher. It hurts the brewery having beer sitting and hurts the consumer by keeping them from enjoying Element's delicious offerings. I will admit I have a huge bias for Element Brewing as does our store.

As for better and cheaper options, I wasn't aware of other breweries making anything along the lines of what they brew.

Not disputing anything you said, but those are BCS/KBS prices essentially and their standard stuff (and I'd even say their specials) haven't proved to be that level of good IMO. They are far from the only ones that are guilty, but brewers like Element have to justify their prices when I can get kick ass beer from (just one example) Lagunitas in bombers for clearly less than that. And a couple of years ago that included shipping it from CA to here.

I understand larger volume producers have scale, negotiating power and more beer to spread fixed cost, but as the consumer it doesn't make me overlook the price differences to buy Element.

That being said...the OP's post certainly makes me a tad more interested in supporting them.
