I don't think bullying is the right word. If I understand correctly they've decided to handle distribution through bars to reward bars loyal to them and encourage business at those establishments during these releases. As a business, you are welcome to vary your taps and not always include a St Arnold's tap, but don't accuse them of bullying because they give the beer to bars who do maintain a tap of theirs.

Without commenting on the actual nature of communications between Saint Arnold and Rockwell - if any - if I ran any kind of business that had regular and special offerings, I would be an idiot to sell those special offerings to people who don't regularly support me at the expense of those who do.

Yeah I'm not thrilled with their BB distribution strategy, but I don't see anything at all wrong with this.

I couldn't edit my post, but it seems that there are a lot of facts missing (surprise) in the Rockwell story. Still, if Rockwell has a bone to pick, I'd like to see an actual explanation of what has transpired rather than an unsubstantiated claim of "bullying." It's amazing how easy it is to incite people via social media without a single objective fact being stated.

Hell, if Rockwell (as has been claimed elsewhere) really does have 1-2 SA beers on at all times, their unwillingness to agree to make one "designated" in exchange for special beers is pretty crappy business sense, particularly considering SA's position as a Houston mainstay.

There aren't always 1-2 SA beers on tap. If I were Rockwell, I wouldn't designate a SA tap just to get Bishop's Barrel. That doesn't make business sense when the people that go to Rockwell go for beers they can't find on the shelves.

For all those still hunting for Pumpkinator haha

    Rockwell Tavern & Grill

Although Saint Arnold withheld BB6 from us we have been holding on to bombers of Pumpkinator which we were going to sell with the BB6 for vertical tastings. You can get these now until all gone!

So, I heard Bullritos had gotten Bb5 any word if they'll be getting bb6? They could do to-go if they wanted.

Our Bishop Barrel releases are very limited and with that said, we want to pay tribute to the bars and restaurants that have supported us by supplying them with these special beers. We've never told Rockwell "they must" have a tap on at all times to get BBs/DRs. What we're asking for is support and we haven't seen that. Nothing wrong with that. They choose to serve the beers they want. If some of you BA members frequent Rockwell, let the owners know you're interested in SA being available. But if the only thing you/Rockwell want are BBs and DRs, I wouldn't expect them to be carrying it if they don't support our year round/seasonal line up.

Thanks for the info! But yeah...the last thing I'd drink at Rockwell, which I frequent regularly as its close to home, would be a St. Arnold beer. They offer a lot of beers I have yet to ever try on their limited taps. Too bad about the DR's and BB's but oh well.

Saint Arnold should know that they're just about the only craft beer bar in Cypress besides one or two others that tap the bud light stuff. Leaving Rockwell out of the SA special releases is leaving out a section of town.

Saw Brock at Hay Merchant yesterday. He said they're working on it. I think he said they had a small batch they were happy with, but it had problems when they tried to scale it up, so they're tweaking it.

This alleged spat seems like the "only whalez bro" type in bar/restaurant form. If a bar doesn't serve the readily attainable beers from somewhere I don't see why they should be entitled to the limited ones on their terms

Good analogy. Yeah man, no fuss tho, just saying: shouldn't St. Arnold want its special beers in the only real craft beer bar in Cypress?

True it would help people get excited about SA other beers but say a case is 24 bottles at $4 per for what SA gets (no idea if that is close). That'd be about $100 per case (probably 3-6 cases total) the brewery gets to let a bar sell their most sought after beer with no promise of any other promotion of SA beers. Or they can throw a BWW or Saucer a couple extra cases of BB in exchange for continued promotion of the beers they make more $$ off of due to scale. But I see why Cypress people would want their local craft beer bar to carry it and why the bar would want to have it as well, so I do see where you are coming from
