I've never seen it, but I just read through the reviews and I'm a little ashamed to admit - I'd like to try this.

    Thoughts? Would you try it?

The other Shock Top offerings are notoriously bad, so I sincerely question how much better this can really be.
Shock Top Honeycrisp Apple Wheat, in particular, is possibly the worst beer I've ever tried.

The rating is fairly accurate. I will say though, a couple weekends ago a buddy brought along a mixed six box that Shock Top was selling. 3 chocolate and 3 orange, with the intent that you mix them. (Think black and Tan) The result was better than I expected.

Now, take that with a grain of salt seeing as how we were ice fishing and a handful of beers deep by the time we busted these out.

On it's own, it's terrible. Fake chocolate flavor... I have heard from several others that mixing it with the orange isn't bad though. It's probably going to go great with upcoming pretzel wheat :stuck_out_tongue:

I'll try anything. Worst case scenario - it sucks, I'm out a couple dollars, and I don't finish it.
    Best case...maybe it's decent?

Sounds like a kid cereal. Milk chocolate wheat. Kinda like Joe Camel at 5%. Oh well. Reset the cold box!

I always wanted to try the Wheat IPA but could never bring myself to pay for it. Too bad no one I knew ever had it so I could have a freebee.

Also I have not seen this beer anywhere and I though AB/InBev made sure their products were EVERYWHERE.

Also if were talking "lesser" chocolate beers, theres no way this is better than Harpoon Chocolate Stout and thats considered a lower tier chocolate beer.

I like the Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat, one of the better drinking pumpkin beers with a wide release.
I'll give this one a try.

I have only seen it in the mixed 6 pack. With that being said, I would probably buy a single if I saw one for sale.

A good friend of mine seems to always bring over Shock Top when we play cards. I'm never excited to see it when he shows up but I always drink one because he always offers it to me. Again, I'm never excited to drink it but I'm not a snob either. And so far . . . None of it has been bad. But none of it has been great either. Still have a bottle of End of The World Midnight Wheat in the back of the fridge from two years ago now. I'll just leave it there because I'm used to seeing it.

You should let it get a few more years of age on it, then bust it out for a special occasion.

My friend has a few cans of Keystone Light in his basement with about 7 years on them. We're doing the same thing with them.

I think the sense of shame stems from being duped by a gimmick. Like, some combination of weirdness and advertising managed to combine to convince me to throw my money away on something I knew in my gut couldn't be good...

I've got a Billy Beer waiting for the 50th Anniversary of Jimmy Carter's election. I think it will really be coming around by then.

There's nothing to being "duped" into unless you think you have, that's just a self fulfilling prophecy.

You can buy any beer hyped up, well received or not, and you still may not care for it. It happens.

As for shock top, in my case I don't seek those beers out and have tried them on whims, but going out of the way to try or purchase this beer isn't going to break your wallet either.

    1.99 or 2.50 in a mix a six pack...?

either way you'll never know unless you try

By the way if you really want a great chocolate wheat like beer I highly recommend this one, but you don't have to listen to me.

    Andechs Dunkelweiss

but you'll never know unless you try it
