    I googled around.

Aaron Heineman (of Breakroom) is a manufacturer of bars and did the woodwork for Revolution. He has a 13,000 square foot millwork studio at 2925 W Montrose Ave. This is where the Chicago Beer Lovers tastings have been happening in Chicago lately, and the Breakroom Brewery facebook page lists this same address as a brewery and restaurant. These are in progress?

Mike Pallen (of Breakroom) is the social media guy for 18th Street.

So this is a gathering of 18th Street employees and some guests brewing at a millwork studio?

They play shuffle board which is a nice change from bar trivia.

you can always judge the guys after they brew beer instead of before. Like you wouldn't judge a prince song until you've heard it, why not apply that to new breweries too. I'm with you, it seems like there's a new one opening every week (AND DON"T I KNOW) but I & others would prefer to be judged on merit instead of business plan. craig finn of the hold steady said it best "we gotta stay positive...whoaaa whoooaa wooo."

    Hey everyone!

On behalf of BreakRoom Brewery, I wanted to provide some more details about who we are and what we are doing.

BreakRoom Brewery will be a brewpub serving both gastropub food and craft beer. BreakRoom is located at 2925 West Montrose Avenue in Chicago, utilizing the front 4,000 square feet of the Heineman Bar Company building. (Aaron Heineman, who owns Heineman Bar Co., also owns BreakRoom Brewery.) The back wall of BreakRoom will share a wall with Heineman and have large windows exposing guests to what is happening and being built at HBC.

We are currently deep into construction and have plans on opening in the Spring of this year, 2014. We recently laid all new cast iron plumbing and the concrete flooring. As soon as the epoxy is applied and sets, we will begin setting up the interior.

The brewery space will feature a 10 barrel brewhouse from Portland Kettle Works, 8 10 barrel fermenters, and 10 10 barrel brite/serving tanks. With that said, we will have 10 different beers on tap at all times. Each month we aim to dedicate 2 of those 10 beers to collaborations. We have already done collaborations with DryHop Brewers and Spiteful Brewing, and plan to have both breweries come brew those beers at BreakRoom. *As a heads up, the DryHop collaboration will be released at their space on March 3rd. It is a Honey Vanilla Milk Stout. The Spiteful collaboration, a India Dark Ale, will be bottled on March 3rd and available in stores that week. We will also take a keg of this beer to the DryHop release.

During construction and build out, we have been test-batching several styles of beer. We plan to open with beers such as our French Saison brewed with white peppercorns and chamomile, a Robust Porter "dry-hopped" with whole Costa Rican coffee beans and then finished with cold-toddied coffee, a Lactose IPA, a Horchata Milk Stout, A Berliner Weisse, and a mix of APAs, IPAs, and DIPAs. We are also excited to start a barrel-aging program for Stouts, Saisons, Porters, and sour beers.
