Picked up 2 of these today on a recommendation. Any good?

Nope, absolutely terrible. Old Rasputin is bad. Barrel aged must be even worse.... Give them to me.

I have one waiting in the wings. I can't wait it pop it open. Regular Old Rasputin is fantastic so I'm sure this is gonna be a great brew.

I found last year's release to be WAY too hot upon release. If you're planning on aging a bottle then I'm sure it will taste great, but last year's was far from amazing when I drank it after purchase.

Just not worth the $20 IMO. Give me some Old Rasputin on nitro instead.

For that price, I'd much rather have a bottle of Old Stock Cellar Reserve aged in brandy barrels...

AGREED! BA Raspy is ok but not worth the $20 bill, Old Stock Brandy is KILLER!

Just had my one bottle of XV 2 nights ago, which I found in a random store in Cape Canaveral, which I went to on a cruise last week. Lucky me! It was around $22, which was evened out by the fact that all of the Cigar City cans and bottles I bought were absurdly cheap.

Anywho, regular Raspy I find to be OK; I think it tastes a little bit too burnt. The XV cold didn't have much on the flavor, but it got much better as it warmed. Not worth the money, but it was nice to try once. I doubt I'll see it again.

The Old Stock Brandy was way too sweet for me. I actually had it on draft, and it was a knockdown dragout to finish an 8 oz pour.

Much prefer BA Rasputin, and liked the 15 a lot. 16 is a little lower in ABV, and excited to try it, but the price tag is pretty $teep for me to grab more than a couple.

I only keep buying it because i have a vertical going: this was my 3rd year i felt commited its an ok brew, for the $ and only 500ml though not the best ( its not bad ) dont get me wrong, there are just higher quality BA stouts out there IMHO

I had some BA Rasputin on draft recently... one of the better beers I've had in a while. Not sure which one it was... whatever is current... XVI probably.

BUT... not sure if I would pay $20+ for a bottle. Then again there isn't many beers I'd pay $20 for 750ml.

Actually I've had both the regular Old Rasputin and the barrel aged Rasputin and I prefer the regular.

I guess when deciding to drop $20+ on a bottle, part of the allure is being able to keep and display the bottle. Threw 2 bottles of Deschutes and a bottle of Hoplam in recycling to make room for the XV.

Has the 16 last night and it was damn good. Very litle heat, tons of flavor and aroma profiles, and a treat to drink. I think you'll enjoy.

I can't speak for previous year's, but it sounds like this year's is an improvement, at least as far as immediate drinkability.

Phenomenal beer, though like others have mentioned, I tend to balk at the price. Funny in that regular Old Rasputin is always seen as such a bargain.

$20?? HA! In Philly, I was used to paying around $20 for it.

I just saw it out here in Pittsburgh for $45. Yup, $45 bucks. Needless to say, I passed.

Can't even think about Barrel Aged when someone at the top said Nitro Raspy *drool*

The last two batches I have had were waaaaay too hot. I would say age at least one for a few years. Pretty expensive for a 500ml bottle.

XV was my first pour at a DC beer fest last year. It took #1 away from KBS as my favorite BA stout. I've never seen anniversary bottles in the DC/VA area but I'd probably pull the trigger at $24 or less.
