Nothing wrong with being choosy about what to include as extras. We all have bills to pay and while it's nice to hook someone up with amazing extras, don't be pressured into it if you have limitations on your resources whether it's your pocket book or access to bottles. Your concerns are on the mark, though. Breweries like FW, Stone, Lagunitas, Ballast Point, etc. make it out to quite a few regions so if you're trading with someone who lives in a state where those breweries have a presence, then the choices for extras can be few. I also prefer sending out 12 oz bottles as extras and since the breweries here seem to prefer bomber size or larger, it cuts down on choices even more. Thankfully there are now great canned options to send out, two of which have been covered already.

Here are a few more to add to the list:

    Strand Atticus IPA (500 ml)
Hair of the Dog Fred or Adam
The Dude Grandma's Pecan (i like this beer despite no one really saying much about it)

If someone is trying to win a trade, tell them to pound sand. Don't do business with the greedy. If you miss a beer because of it, you miss a beer. No big deal. There are others, and there will be more.

And Karma doesn't exist, hippies. Shit that comes your way comes your way as a direct result of someone else's actions. Not because of something you did some other time. That's a very self centered point of view.

Back on track. Extras. Yes. The new trend of cans is awesome. Light packing, light weight. Oh and the beer is good.

Extra's are just that...extra's.. Last trade I completed, I sent over some Knuckle Sandwich and Modern Times...and I got nothing. Life goes on. He's a cool guy, and I'm in the middle of another trade with him. I've got some extras lined up for him along with some local glassware. I find personal satisfaction knowing my trading partner receives an awesome box, and I'm sure others can relate.

I am willing to send some Michigan or Ohio(I live 15 miles north of the Ohio Border) goodies for some Pliny and other CA beers, not sure what is available, we do get Deschutes, Sculpin and Green Flash in Ohio. I do have some Bell's Hopslam for trade too. IM me and let's see if we can work a trade out.

If they're cool, send em Nelson, Duet and Pure Hoppiness. If they're a dick, send em Mandarin Nectar.

For $6.99/22oz, St. Archer DIPA would be a great local extra to throw in. Had one for the first time last night (bottle was >4 weeks old as well), and it easily placed itself in the top tier of SD double IPA's. Like, way up there. For 8.3% it was dry, only a light malt body, greatly unbalanced by the Simcoe/Citra late hop additions. When St. Archer first came out I really wanted to not like them... I'm just not a fan of extreme/alternative sports and thought it was gimmicky... but the few times I've had their beer it's been very well-crafted and tasty.
