Work is cancelled today due to a silly March snow storm so I thought I would celebrate.

The potential to start the WBAYDN thread is one of my few joys when working night shifts. Looks like somebody beat me to it today. Oh well, I will have to find some other joy. I think getting my neighbors to think I'm some manic guy by firing up the grill and jamming out to hippie music at 9:30am will suffice.

Trying a couple new beers today, starting with this one:

And checking out this new band called Pink Talking Fish. Members of Particle (among others) doing a hybrid of covers by Pink Floyd, the Talking Heads and Phish. I'm not too big into cover bands, but these guys are sick. Check out some of their set lists on their webpage, and/or listen below

American Amber/Red Ale homebrew, or at least my attempt at one. Not very good. Oh well, I plan to brew another batch soon.

Had to drain pour the homebrew. Back to the Sam Adams variety pack. I actually really enjoyed this one.

Morning =) Drinking Ithaca Beer's Green Trail This is their "session" IPA. It has 6% and-

this beer is a welcome change from all the hop bombs. It is intensely hoppy without being intensely bitter. It has a drinkable character that would be easy to handle in a session and in the summertime. Plenty of flavor.

It has no tropical fruit. Only citrus and you do notice that. It also has a touch of hop oil on the palate but no real intense bitter that you usually find with that. I'd say Ithaca could not have brewed a beer that was much more different from flower power. This beer drinks easily. It meets the "session" abv without acting like hop water in the mouthfeel. Nice and could catch on with people who like the citrusy west coast style mouthfeel on this.

    One, two . . . two beers.

Beautiful day in sunny South Carolina. Working my way through this SA spring variety pack. Chillin with my dog, watching the burgers cook. This is my favorite from the 12 pack, Whitewater IPA, very tasty.

Its hard to compare it to anything specifically. The nose is super orange forward, and the taste is spice heavy. But not biting pepper/coriander spice but a soft nutmeg and almost vanilla spice. Its a pretty unique witbier, I dig it.

Well, at least it looks like an Amber Ale! I've made IPA's that turned out darker than this.... wooops!

Hang in there, you'll get there! I've only made a few batches I've been satisfied with (60 gallons / 5 gal a batch), I've made major upgrades in both process and equipment, so hopefully no more drain pours here either!

Tried a Lebanese take on a Pilsner while out to dinner at a Middle Eastern place last night.

An okay beer. Nothing worth revisiting, but not unpleasant.

Stuck with the pilsner theme and went with this for the first time. Solid, enjoyable pilsner!
Even better than a tallboy, a 19.2oz "stovepipe"! Though at this point it may as well be a 22oz bomber.

Mmm, dark chocolate+chiles, one of my favorite combos!
Delicious, though it could be a little spicier and darker for my liking.

A little different than what I usually listen to, but it reminds me a bit of the pilsner theme. . light, upbeat, good stuff!

    Cheers BA's!
