Is it just me or does a special/limited release beer suddenly become far less appealing when you see it popping up on the FT side of things far more often than the ISO side? I've seen this many times but most recently with CFH. I've always wanted to get my hands on this but after watching the forums for the last few days, it seems everyone who got some is trying to trade it and very few are actually seeking it out. This really makes me second guess how good it actually is..

That's just human nature. We tend to want what seems to be harder to get. Also, the people who went to all the effort to actually get the CFH bottles (lining up, bringing WAGs as mules, etc.) are wanting to get stuff for their extra bottles, nothing wrong with that.

Speaking of CFH, wonder why there isn't a 2014 listing yet. Even before releases, it seems like people are pretty good about creating the listing. Looking forward to seeing what people are thinking of this beer.. outside of how good it must taste, what makes it so special compared to all other limited release imperial stouts out there? It's almost as if is a much rarer, stout-only version of the Firestone anniversary beers.

Do realize that at many bottle releases the beers in question are also available for onsite consumption beyond one's limit, be it in the form of draught offerings or in paid bottle pours. So one can, in many cases, trade their whole allotment and still have tried the beer. And that is without even accounting for people who belong to tasting groups, where there is thus a functional excess of the beer to be traded away.

But if the beer is that good, why not consume it yourself? Does everything revolve around trading nowadays?

Its cooler to trade your beers than actually drink them. Duh

Curious if a CFH for Southampton IRS is a decent 1 for 1 swap?

No, but if you read the response & question, he was giving an example of WHY someone might be trading their allotment of some highly sought-after beer.

And considering you have 23 completed trades, your post...is really confusing.

I buy beers specifically to trade , styles I don't really drink. Could be this is the case here, or there were multiples purchased , guys buy to drink cellar and trade.Trying to ft crappy beers won't work here.
