I too am drinking a BCBS with a 1/2 tea spoon of pure vanilla extract. Your mind will be blown if you try it.

IMO: There are many great BA stouts around, but BCBS is the standard by which all other BA stouts should be measured by. Sometimes the hype is well deserved and there for a reason:slight_smile:

    This, so much.

I've had BCBS several times now, both fresh and aged, and just for my palate it doesn't have anything on this one. I know many disagree and that's fine, to each their own, but I love that brew.

oddside ales makes a very very tasty one called Morningwood stout. it might not be a "bomber" but as far as taste goes it kills most out there.

BCBS is the gold standard in my book - but Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Stout is relatively easy to obtain and is pretty solid. Clown Shoes Very Angry Beast and Widmer Brrrbon are a couple other fairly easily attainable BBA beers. Lots of great whiskey barrel aged brews too. Cheers!

Bcbs is the best, Insanity from Weyerbacher is something to go for. Out your way Parabola is as the kids say cray cray.

New Holland makes the Dragon's Milk Stout. That's a phenomenal brew. Be careful though, I've only been able to find it in pints!

Backwoods Bastard from Founders is my favorite by far, but its only brewed around november and pretty limited, around 12.99 for a 4. As the guy above said new holland dragon milk is a pretty good stout that available year round and easy to find (at least in MI) and around 14.99 a 4. Also Oddside ales in MI has a Barrel aged Mayan Mocha stout, that has cinnamon, nutmeg, and jalepenos in it and its delicious and only around 11.99 a 4.

And of course KBS from founders, good luck finding it ever. And Plead the 5th BA version from Dark Horse, also very hard to find.

Backwoods Bastard: GREAT STUFF! Glad I had the "good sense" to purchase the 2-4packs when I had the opportunity.

SO many great options. But for starters:

New Holland Pilgrims Dole (IMO far better than Dragons Milk)
    Founders Sweet Repute
Bruery Black Tuesday (and it's myriad variants)
Bruery anniversary ales (Fruet, Bois, Sucre, etc)
    Bruery Mash
    Firestone Walker Sucuba
Anything in Goose Island's Bourbon County series
    Red Brick Beard Envy

I could damn near go on all day...
