I recently noticed some Fuller's London Pride and ESB on a store shelf packaged in a new label and bottle. Thinking this a good indication that the bottles were probably placed there recently, I grabbed one of each. Best by dates for both were Nov '14. Both beers were without the age issues that marred the last few times I had 'em (including on draught). These guys sparkled. For any Fuller's fans out there, now is a good time to enjoy some.

What a great lineup of beers! But I agree that freshness is the key.

Love Fullers. London Pride, ESB, and Bengal Lancer are great English hop showcases when fresh.

Sam Smiths gets far too much in the way of dues.

Start a thread titled "What is the best British beer", and 50% of the responses will be something by Sam Smiths.

To me, Sam Smiths is at best, a middle-of-the-road brewery by UK standards.

Most people don't get a chance to drink British beers in their native setting on cask, so they don't know what they're missing. Sam Smiths for me has been fresher than most bottled beers I've tried from across the pond.

Definitely agree. Just don't think that that Sam Smith (by UK beers' standards) is suffering from a lack of attention on BA

When you've had your fill of Fuller's is when you should begin drinking. I just might be wrong; with, that advice.

"Fuller’s, London’s premiere brewery and maker of London Pride and ESB, is re-releasing its award winning session ale, Chiswick Bitter, on draught in limited quantities in the United States."

Has anybody seen Chiswick Bitter on tap yet? If so, was it regular draft or on cask?

    Cheers!

Is there a craft beer revolution happening in England? Or maybe it happened a long time ago

His point was that Sam Smiths isn't considered very good by British BA's. They do very little cask over there. American BA's go ga ga over it, and think it's one of the best British brewerys.

To understand their perspective, imagine how we would react if the majority of British BA's were always raving about Yeungling and rating it as one of the best American beers, because they didn't get any of our really good craft beers there.

Just understand that these are keg beers that are only exported. All Fullers beers you'll find in British pubs are cask ales. Their exported kegged stuff doesn't compare.

Was in the UK over the summer and don't remember seeing Chiswick Bitter (was even at a few Fuller, Smith & Turner pubs). Bummed I missed out now.
