I would imagine that the subcontracting will ultimately increase the price of the beer because Green Flash isn't going to do it for free, right?

Because they aren't bottling (as far as anybody knows), I don't know if you'll really see that price increase, but they are pretty much doing this at cost. Read the article here: http://allaboutbeer.com/news/green-flash-to-brew-kegged-beer-for-alpine-brewing/

Eek. Was it like that when you picked it up, or did it accumulate more over time?

As much shit as some newer breweries get for being glorified home brew (and in many cases, it's justified), putting out bottles like that when you've been in business for over a decade is silly.

Think it's worth headed back over to the brewery and alerting them to it (if you can)? I'd assume (maybe falsely) that they'd want to know quality control's gone to shit with some recent bottles.

Just received in trade today, but I know the growler & Nelson bottles were picked up fresh last week so assumed this was too.

If you have any friends who are cicerones, maybe they can teach you how to pour beer from a bottle into a glass in a manner that leaves the sediment in the bottle.

Very good point. I have a love/hate thing with Alpine I would rather not get into. I live in Ramona though so Alpine is pretty far. Excuses I know...

Dude that's a great idea! If you wouldn't mind making a video and sending it my way it would be much appreciated.

Step 1: Tilt the glass at a 45 degree angle.
    Step 2: Pour slowly.
Step 3: When it looks like you're getting down to where sediment might come out, stop pouring.
Step 4: Enjoy your beer. If any little bit of sediment got into your glass, it's not going to hurt you or impart much flavor.
Step 5: Ignore steps 1-4 and keep complaining. From what I've heard about Pat, it'll go over great.
