I was there. And it was a train wreck / joke. Period. Now reason to argue about it.

I helped the staff corral folks out of the tap room/brewery, and I felt for the dude that kept saying "I'm not going back out there to get into another fight." Apparently, three other guys tried to beat him up and take his bottles inside of the venue.

This is what happens when craft beer becomes too big of a fad. You get idiots who only care about exclusivity and not about actual beer. Nobody would think of beating someone up for a beer 5 years ago. What has happened to this hobby?

Why were you doing anything like that? Do you work there?

Because one poor soul / employee was given the very unfun task of telling people to gtfo, and being able to tell my fellow, disappointed patrons that it was ok seemed to calm their zealous anger.

    Well good on you.

The fact that customers and attendees have to do stuff like this though is a testament to the ineptness of CCB.

I run a business and if another customer had to handle a situation for me I would be embarrassed

I'm trying my best to not sound like an entitled prick but it really was shitty. We were all asked to not line up early and then found out those who ignored the request were rewarded with the opportunity to purchase 6x the amount of the highest anticipated Catador release and at a discount if you think about the cost of the club divided amongst the bottles. It took an hour and a half to get in after arriving at 10:45 and another half hour to get a regular beer, forget about anything limited that was an hour unless you're cutting lines. I'm good with crowds and figured out a way to have a good time but there are people who waited in line for 2 hours to get in, got In a beer line for an hour for one beer, then waited an hour plus to find out they ran out of hunahpu. I love ccb and their beers but holy shit what a shitty pile of shit this was.

The Catador membership wasn't for a year - more like 6 months. CCB left alot of people feeling betrayed today. They should have stuck to the 3500 person limit, but they didn't. Today was the shitshow that Huna Day has been building to for the last three years (and last year was very, very bad). I hate that it went down like this... I really want CCB to get it together and make Huna Day the event it ought to be.

Not true. I did it back before it was cool. I'm not into "craft beer" as much as "craft beer fighting". You may have seen me on pay-per-view, fighting for the UCBFC.

Next year Hunahpu 2015 will be a pay-per-view MMA event. Only the winners get to drink the sweet nectar poured from a bottle in Joey's sweet hands into your mouth.

Special release epic fail, warms my heart.

These "special" beers are EVERYTHING that is wrong with craft beer now. Without them there is no fad or collectors mentality.

Buy what's readily available at your local store.

"Stand your ground" mean anything in FL? Seriously, I feel bad for the guy and if I saw some shit like that happen in front of me I would "get involved".

Edit: Now once I think about it, how did the majority of people there let this kind of shit go down? I'm sure not everyone knew what happening and some people (myself included) can't afford another bs arrest but how do that many people stand there and watch someone get their ass kicked over something like that? Rhetorical question obviously, not directed at you OP.

Pretty sure we're the Stand Your Ground State. Trayvon and stuff.

I was one of the guys "kicked" out of the tasting room, all we wanted was to buy the 5 years series and we were told in 5 min we can sell them, next thing we know we got shuffled out and cops told us to leave the grounds. I still had my silver wristband, overall I thought the whole thing was an epic fail!!

Apparently my interwebs sarcasm isn't as obvious as I thought it was.

BTW, I wasn't trying to make light of the Trayvon case. Just saying I wouldn't initiate a fight with someone over beer in any state, especially FL. On the other hand I wouldn't watch someone get their ass kicked over beer either.

Hate to break it to you but the last DLD was probably the best run event of all time given the amount of attendees.

Wow. I never thought after having a growler fall out of someones backpack breaking right beside me, cut my leg open causing me to leave, I would miss so much excitement. I didn't leave before buying my allotment though, which I guess is lucky.

Also feeling slightly justified that I called out the club process back in October. El Catador Club "the exclusive barrel aged club"....so exclusive we will sell the public every bottle the members joined to get!

I hope everyone enjoyed El Cat round one because with the bitching at this magnitude ( over cat bottles, not the event) they might not even spring for round two. Ungrateful shits.

So, despite the DB Huna release having no apparent rationale, I still don't understand why El Catador members are saying they should've just skipped on the club. Even if you knew that they were going to release cases at the beginning today, how many of you would have gotten DB Huna today? Around 70 something in all likelihood. Everyone willing to take that chance? You had a bottle guaranteed with almost no hassle, and ended up with second after it was over, not to mention it being on tap a few times. The only thing the release today tells you is that CCB doesn't seem to be very thoughtful on stuff like this, not that it was smarter for you to skip on the membership.
