Has anyone seen bottles of this yet or know when it is going to be distributed? I saw the post about Pat's Tap. I cant decide if I would rather go there for that or the Yard House for the big grand opening.

Just released at the Deschutes' pubs on 3/6. Still a few weeks out in NE is what I have been told.

Anyone have history of other grand openings? Think you will just see flagship offerings for beer?

There will indeed be more than just flagships*:

I tried to get them to spill the beans on Twitter. But they didn't exactly say there was going to be cases of BCBS.

If I were them I would be similarly non-committal, but it's worth noting that there will be many working stiffs from the retail trade who will be in attendance on their big opening day. Why, I've even heard that Jim Surdyk himself has volunteered to crack open a vintage, 2011 bottle of Surly's Darkness to celebrate their great achievement! :grinning:

After seeing Binny's in Chicago, I for one welcome big box liquor stores. Although I love the Firkins, Blue Max and the like, they are in a minority of liquor stores that serve consumers well. Most dont IMO. I think the niche little guys like FF will do fine either way.

That BizJournal article from the owner is funny because its true.

    He says "
You've encountered a lot of pushback on the proposed Bloomington store. Have you encountered that in other markets you've entered over the years?

Trone: No, we have not. The competitors always hate competition, but what we found in Minneapolis-St. Paul is that they know who we are and they know the success we've had in 15 other states, and because of that, they've decided they really hate competition and they don't want to compete. Rather than compete on price, selection, service and location — the typical way in America — they've chosen to compete by trying to stop our entry into the market by using government as a foil to stop competition, which enables them to keep their high prices and maintain, in many cases, their dirty stores. That makes the consumers the losers."

    Amen.

Sorry, back to topic...I bet Total Wine will have some Mirror

Are they just opening in the morning, or is there some sort of event? Didn't see much information out there about this.

Not really sure. There's no information on their site (and their 'Grand Openings' are usually a big to-do.) I was almost thinking of camping out, overnight, just in case, but I have another errand to run across town, tomorrow.

Are you saying they will have it at Yard House for the grand opening?

Hopefully this opening will spur some of the employees at The Cellars in Roseville to be a little more friendly and a little less prejudiced. I have stopped in there on the way home from work on many occasions only to have acknowledgement at the register and nowhere else. When I stop with "nicer" clothes on, they are much more friendly. Needless to say, I will be checking out Total Wine!

    Reporting back from Total Wine.

They have REALLY low prices. Furious $7.99!! Saga $6.49 for sixer $10.49 for 12-pack!!

Safe to say I will be buying my everyday beer their. Everything else is pretty standard the prices for specialty releases were right on point with any other store.

Bro (@Chaz) No Walez! They had LB Silhouette labeled as barrel aged and it was a low number, but it wasn't! They had a bunch of Irish Coffee Stout for $12.99 though.

Yeah, my wife and I went and did the Barleywine flight. We both preferred the fresh Mirror Mirror to the aged.
