Best Dark Mild?

    It really is, especially as today they brewed up the 1933 Whitbread DBA recipe from my book which will be served at the festival.

    Yards just doesn't get enough love around here- that sounds like an incredible event.

    Excellent. Thanks for the report. It is the rare U.S. "craft" brewer that can show such restraint. Happy to hear that their ranks are growing.

    Well has to be the 1832 Truman XXXX mild, at 10.45ABV. home brewed of course... not seen much mild here, and I am not paying 5 bucks for 1 in Total wine. lol.

    Does Yards stuff ever make it up to NY? Seems like I would like a lot of their offerings, especially Brawler.

    I never thought of Yards Brawler as a Dark Mild, it's more of a brown to my tases. I love the hell out of it tho!

    I like Wandering Star's offering and Barrier from Long Island makes a really nice one called Mollycoddle, I think. Real good if you can find it. They don't always brew it.

    I only see Yards in PA and NJ. I find many of their beers enjoyable. Brawler was got me curious about the dark mild category because it is a perfect session beer.

    I couldn't stand it any more so drove out to the Belvoir Brewery for a couple of pints of their utterly gorgeous Dark Horse. Amazing for only 3.4% ABV.As it had only moved a few yards to the cellar it was as always in impeccable condition.
    A picture I've used before but what the hell...........and this wasn't sold to me as a pint.I took another inch off the beer and it was topped up.

    It does not. Surprisingly, I rarely see Brawler offered in bars in Philly.

    According to the brewer, it's a Dark Mild. I'm not going to argue with him. It's not called that because, well, the name Mild is the kiss of death commercially.

    I like New Albanian's Community Dark Mild Ale (3.7% ABV). I believe it's brewpub/kegs only, but I'd like for them to bottle it someday.

    I know this is an older thread but i'm too excited to drink some Harvey's Dark Mild in Lewes this June. Can't believe I will have narrowly missed Mild in May...

    Surly made a one off that was really fantastic.

    I also like Hockley's out of Canada, but it's a little more closer to porter than a mild I would say but certainly tastes like one to me. kind of an interesting one I thought.

    A local one around my parts is made by Mad Fox and it's called Mason's Dark Mild and it's one of my favorites.

    Ron, have you tried the bottle version at all? I'm sure it's not quite the same but I would love to bring some back up to the frozen tundra that I have apparently decided to live in.
