Just grabbed some Sierra Nevada Bigfoot and would like to hear some opinions on aging this beer. Do you recommend enjoy all now, or put a few away. Any past aging results if this to speak from? Thanks

Put them away. Bigfoot verticals are a wonderful thing, and can be quite dangerous if you don't bring a friend or two.

Bigfoot is really good fresh, although maybe a bit harsh. It's super easy to get and ages well, and its reasonably priced. Seems like the perfect beer to enjoy two now and age the other two. In a few years you've got an awesome vertical.

Thanks for the responses. I will go ahead and tuck a few away to try at various times

The more it ages, the more caramel comes out. Bigfoot with 5+ years on it is like delicious liquid caramel.
    I love it fresh though.

In-between one and two years of age is the magic spot for my preference with Bigfoot...

Any barleywine is a candidate for the cellar, for me. Just picked up 4 4-packs of Monster. Will be sitting on those for a while.

2 minimum. 5-6 max id say. that 3 year area is a sweet spot for me.

As cheap as they are, buy one 4-pack to drink now, another to age. Hell, buy two 4-packs to drink and two to age. That's been my MO the last two years. I figure I do that for about six or seven years and I'll have the great vertical that @Newbiebeer mentioned.

It has been discontinued, yes. Stumbled across it and grabbed it while I had the chance.

Bigfoot is as close to a "universally accepted aging beer" as we'll ever get.

Had a 13 and a 10 last night and I much prefer the 10. It still has a good amount of hops but it has mellowed some. Overall, the 10 just seems more complex

Trying to complete my own vertical of this the oldest I have is an 02 and trying to fill in some holes. Definitely plan on keeping these for the long haul.

Cracked open a 93' last week and it was divine. No carb, slight oxidization, tobacco notes, and chewy sweetness.

2-3 years is my sweet spot. Somewhere between 1-2 years and it gets a little weird. After that, delicious. Oh yeah, super fresh....also delicious.

Are all barley wines good to age? I just picked up some RR damnation should I age one?
