Havent had heady, dbl sunshine, fresh squeezed, hopslam, abbrasive, simtra, ninja, batch 138, N vs. U, or Hopocolypse...but of the ones I have had I would rank them as:

    DIPA:
    PtE
    Dbl Jack
    Hop Henge
    Apex
    Hop Stupid
    Racer X

    IPA:
    sculpin
    blind pig
    racer 5

That's a nice group you got there. Are we taking bets? I got double sunshine winning by a landslide, then Pliny, Pig, Heady

Wish I could say I've tried all of those and could make an unbiased pick at the winner but, alas, I cannot...

Killer line-up! Looks like a blast...I think it's a great idea to mix the reg IPAs with the doubles...who cares? What taste best...taste best. It's not who has the most ABV or IBUs...but rather a flavor based tasting...NICE! Have fun and enjoy...looking forward to seeing the winner!

Oh yes...I'm betting both Deschutes finish higher than the BA scoring line-up.

I have an abrasive in my fridge that was canned 1/28. Not sure if abrasive was canned after that.

I haven't had Pliny, but I'd guess Abrasive for the DIPA and Sculpin for the IPA. Sick lineup!

    Couple Questions:

    • How are you accounting for Palate Fatigue?
    • Will you know what the beers are after the first round? and if so, won't you know what the beers are round 2 and 3?
    • What kind of breaks are you taking? How long? Will the beer warm up during these break periods? Are you refrigerating open container? or do you have three of each beer?
    • What else are you drinking between sips of beer? I would recommend sparkling water and then regular water.

Let me preface this... We're less interested in coming up with a scientifically quantifiable determination of the "best" beer, and more interested in getting to enjoy a boat load of great beer.

To answer your (and others') questions about palate assault, we're setting aside the full afternoon and early evening for this. We've got a tri-tip and ribs prepped for the grill, the hot tub up to temp and aren't in any rush. Certainly water is available, as is soda and time. Bottom line, if Steve wants to go from one beer to the next, that's on him - he can enjoy as he sees fit. Of course, we all do want to enjoy each beer for what it is, so my guess is that time and water will be our friends. We've got a kegerator, a fridge and wine bottle caps to keep open bottles cold.
Regarding my insight on the beers... Yes, I know the full line up, but which flights are served in which order, which beers advance and which beers are rejected will all be unknown to me (Thanks to the wife). That's about as "blind" as I could make it for myself.
Regardless, it promises to be a good time!
    Cheers to all!

Way too many beers in there that I have not experienced to place a wager.

However, I am partially blind and can change my name to Rob, Steve, or Alan in a heartbeat if you need a participant.

For your experiment to be statistically significant, you're gonna need more tasters. In the interest of science, I'm willing to help!

Bet it was a fun taste test! I'm biased but it you could get your hands on some Toppling Goliath Pseudo Sue and some Sosus, it might turn out different. I'm sure they are all Awesome brews!!
