it makes me laugh that californians are resorting to mail-ordering california beer from idaho.

seriously though, this is why i boycott firestone.

I was told 400 cases total bottled. This info came from our local Deschutes rep.

That's way less than the first suggestion of 66k bottles. I know that likely less than 10 cases are hitting Montana total.

10,000~ expensive 12oz bottles is still a lot, though it's also a lot less than 66,000~. (shrug)

I'm going to laugh really hard if this beer turns out to be a DUD and people are already shelling out big bucks / trades for it.

That is brilliant. Artificially keep the stock low so that people think their time to buy is running out.

I am also guessing that they don't even have it in hand either. Hope they get all they are pre-selling!

Yeah, it says that shipments begin on the 20th so you may be right about that.

They probably signed on BA and realized they could horde it all to trade for KH...

so what is the real scoop on this? anyone know any actual numbers? seems like this will be hitting distribution...not that NY gets Deschutes, but we do get some HotD.

Not sure of #'s being distributed but it is being handled by Deschutes. HotD does have some kegs and bottles at their pub though.

The thing I don't get about this beer, is why the $11 a 12oz bottle price? Early reports say it tastes a lot like Dissident (a beer I don't care for) and that's a $12 bomber. I'll just save my money and spend it on the new batch of Michael and get a Flanders I've already been able to try on-tap that I know I like.

I'm guessing it's because there are upwards of two years in some of those beers in the barrel. Although, when I first heard the price point on the beer, I figured Alan set the price. This is the most expensive Deschutes beer I've ever heard of...

Has anyone heard anything more specifc from a good source about how many bottles of Collage were produced? So far there have been rumors of 10,000 bottles and 66,000 bottles.

I had the beer at the collage dinner as well as on tap last night at Deschute's. We were a bit toasted by the time the Collage came out the first night so last night I definitely got a better feel for what I was drinking. The thing I noticed most last night was how much the beer varied as it warmed. When it first came out rather cold, the Pinot aged Dissident does shine through on aroma as well as taste. The pinot barrels certainly have helped Dissident if you ask me. As the beer warmed up it was quite interesting to see the Dissident subside and the bourbon/rye characteristics of the Fred and Stoic come through as well as a strong smokiness from the Adam.

At the collage dinner I think it was pretty unanimous that the new oak aged Adam was our least favorite of the 4 base beers that we tried. Looking back, I think it was due to the temperature of the beer they served. It was VERY cold, and did no justice to the beer at all. After having the collage last night and finally tasting the adam come out in it while it warmed made a lot more sense. I think they put all the kegs in the refrigerator at the same time for the dinner so the beers we had earlier were not as cold as the ones later, which totally changed how the latter tasted.

Hope this adds some insight into the beer itself. I have yet to open a bottle so I don't know how it will compare to both instances I had it on tap.
