If you are a floatie aficionado and/or connoisseur of fine floaties, get your hands on some Focal Banger. Floatie city baby!

Love me some floaties. I used to drink the Brasserie Des Rocs beers all the time when I was in my Belgians phase and those beers are the most chunky beers ever. We opened an aged one once at a bottle share and it was so thick, it had corked up at the neck of the bottle and you couldn't even pour any beer out. We had to jab a knife into the bottle to clear it out.

Poured out a Sucks because it had hops and sediment floating around? Please remove your account from BA!

actually a sucks with "floaties" should technically be better than a sucks without floaties since the yeast will still be working every so slightly. Google bottle conditioning.

What's the best by date? I bought a case 2 months ago and they were bottled in December I think and they are already getting tiny tiny floaties. Still drinkable though.

I'm assuming you have never used one then. I own one and its the best glass I have ever used. I thought they looked silly at first until someone let me sample one, needless to say I placed an order the next day. The etching at the bottom and the ridges on the bottom keep the carbonation and the head going the ENTIRE time you are drinking the beer. Also, the torpedo shape of the glass basically forces your nose inside every time you take a sip and its like an aromatic explosion.

You sir are a bad person for pouring out a sucks beer .. Shame on you. Im assuming you do not homebrew .. if you did you would not mind floaties as you called it .. its really nothing... and besides its floating in alcohol and anti microbial hops material .. win win.

Yeah, MCain04, it sucks to see floaties. Especially in Sucks. But they’re not anything to be worried about, taste-wise*. They’re actually just proteins from the malt. Temperature swings can take proteins that are dissolved in the beer (the same ones that make a nice head) and precipitate them out as visible “fluff” or “floaties.” Though unsightly, they are no more harmful than the lacing on a glass. They often indicate old beer and/or force-aged beer due to improper storage and/or temperature swings.

***That said, we don’t ever wanna see ‘em. Do you still have the bottle? The necks of our bottles are marked with an ink-jet-printed date code. Please let us know the numbers you see so we can see what’s up. Thankyouverymuch.

Otherwise, drink up and rest assured that they’re just tasteless but tangible proof that we still indeed suck.

And cheers to Jeffries55 for droppin’ the kindof knowledge that should be on a plaque in every beer reviewer’s wall: “Better it be "floaties" than "floaters".

Great stuff lagunitasbeer. Thanks for the explanation. Lagunituas IPA is my go-to "daily drinker" and I go through cases of the stuff regularly. This week had an interesting encounter with "floaties" in an IPA. InkJet date code said 004 6 2 0896 2012. Hope that aint the year... regardless - it was one tasty beer. Protein makes me stronger. Cant wait for the next one.

Never experienced this, and boy, I have had a lot of them. Maybe pay closer attention when I drink them instead of sucking them down because they are so damn good !!

Ive never had Sucks. Ive never seen it in a local store. But. Every Schlafly beer i buy had them. Its really a mind over matter thing. You ever make that condenced tomato soup with milk instead of water? Youll create floaties lol. If it wasnt safe to drink im sure there'd be some crazy FDA rule about warnings on packages.

It happens. It could be proteins, yeast, hops, etc. The tendency increases as beer ages.
