    Happy New Saison Sunday!

Up for today is Goose Island Sofie, 2012 vintage. Fantastic brew, a bit different than your usual Saison, but it is certainly still within category. The added tartness from the barrel aged component is a nice touch. This is very complex and flavorful. Good way to end a busy day. I tried to get things done today that I have been putting off, and I think I did well. Now I just have to wait and see if I'm cleaning snow off my driveway, or getting away with nothing.

    Cheers!

Sticking with my usual theme this week The Walking Dead and a stout. Can't believe I haven't had this before. Bottled last May and amazingly smooth for an Imperial, mebbe I just need to have some patience and let them set a bit, I dunno. Poured my second glass through some coffee (Folgers, unfortunately I spend all my money on beer) and was very satisfied.

New Session IPA Sunday (week 473)

Greetings NBS'ers. A chilly day spent first at work pointing recycling materials to their proper destinations, then cleaning years of accumulated mess from a house in which two relatives were invalids for years, and then died there. Not all in one day, it is an ongoing project that is despairing. I don't believe in ghosts, but something stole my cigar last night. That is the last night I stay there.

Now I have a delicious beer, all is right with the world. Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

Greeting NBS! Was this weekend way too short or is just me? I guess I got some stuff done, but dang, Monday again already?!

Anyway, I got out to NOLA's famous Avenue Pub this afternoon before heading to the Pelicans game. It was a great game and the Pelicans won in OT, though I'm a northerner and a Celtics fan so I was disappointed. At least the Providence Friars made the tourney!

Enough rambling, I tried a nice local IPA. A very good offering here that I will be drinking more of:

As promised, I have returned to report my assessment of the second new beer of the day for me. I'm of course speaking of the one and only Zywiec Porter. Here's what I thought of it:

Pours a translucent black with a finger length tan head that dissipated rather quickly. The aroma included maple, vanilla, toffee, milk chocolate, licorice and a tad bit of nuttiness. Taste was very sweet all the way down, but was in no way cloying. The aftertaste of licorice and vanilla was short lived, and the body on this bad boy was on the lighter side.

Overall, this beer was solid but not anything that'll knock your socks off. Now, when the price tag is brought into consideration ($1.69 for a pint), this beer is a great value and I will be returning to this one in the future!

Well, it's time for this cowboy to be hitting the ol' dusty trail. Have a great week everyone!
    Cheers!

Still a bit of Sunday left. Ending the weekend with something new. Was a bit disappointed by this one, at more than twice the price of a bottle of Backwoods Bastard I expected a vastly superior beer. It is tastes almost exactly like BB though, so in a head to head Backwoods wins every time.

if the standard 3F Gueuze is a bit of a let down, then I dont know what to do for you. I havent had De Cam or other big boys, 3F makes probably the best decently distributed lambic Ive ever had. It destroys Oud Beersel, makes fun of Hanssens as it flies past it, and nods to Cantillon on its way through.

First off, best wishes to @DIM and family... Stay strong and stay together!

And now... Catching the tail end of NBS!

This beer should be consumed in pairs! Finally got my hands on some and ST did not disappoint. Tremendous hop forward flavor, and don't even get me started on aroma! I wanna make this a cologne, but I think that would do more harm than good. Any who, a must try for all ale drinkers. I would liken this to dirt wolf but possibly a step, albeit small, ahead.

    Howdy NBSer's!!!
Greetings and Good Beers to One and All.
It got downright hot today in SoCal. To the point of unpleasant. But great beers and greater company made up for this in spades. A BIG Happy birthday to chobaccahb!!! We had a nice gathering in his honor at Bootlegger's Brewery in Fullerton.

Some great bottles were shared...Revolution Brewing's Deths Tar, Cascade Strawberry, Fremont's http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/20680/55401/?show_ratings=Y,
Lost Abbey's 15 th Anniversary for Bottleworks (really nice--THANKS jconrick1), Sticky Hands (again--THANKS jconrick1), Kern Citra, Nebraska Fathead, Funky Budha Maple Bacon Coffee, CCB Good Gourd Almighty, Beechwood's 8 Buffalo, Mother of All Storms, and some other gooduns.

The reason I'm posting here, well, they were mostly new to me. Not a clunker in the bunch. But, just like NBS, good people make drinking a beer, or beers, so much more enjoyable. Always like checking in with you folks, even if I don't post. I wish you all the best!

Cheers DIM. I've had a few bIG scares with loved ones. (Currently dealing with a big one that's no longer "hypothetical"). I hope your situation is good now, and I can say from experience, it gives a clarity of purpose and priorities. Hug your loved ones, and tell & show your love everyday. We have precious short time with our loved ones, we need to make it count.
    I wish you countless blessings.

Well again, I'd had the Golden Blend the day before, and it was phenomenal - the best Geuze I've ever had. This one just had some smokey/earthy off flavor to it, that I don't think is standard; I can't imagine there's that big of a difference between the two. Although I can imagine batch variation with a lambic.

And setting comes down to it. I wasn't on a fresh palate, and who knows. I definitely want to try it again, to see if it was just a bad bottle, or if it was just me, or if I just don't particularly like that take. We'll see.

you might be the first person to say that 3F Gueuze was a let down. Hence my reaction.
