left hand has wake up dead in nitro now, and just curious how the nitro works in am imperial stout? doesn't nitro generally make the stout lighter and creamier? kind of defeats the purpose of it being an ris right? please correct me if im wrong

If you haven't had NC Old Rasputin on Nitro, you have done yourself a great disservice. It is life changing.

    Nitro sucks!

Nitro is awesome for some beers!

    No nitro always sucks!

Seriously I like some beers on nitro!

    The end.

^ thats great butnim not asking for oppinions on nitro im asking wat effect nitro have on viscosity, to my knowledge nitro thins a beer out? So why do that to an RIS, isnt the pointto be thick and syrupy

Wake up Dead on nitro? Well, it can't be any worse...
But I have to disagree about Old Rasputin on nitro. Was the first nitro RIS I ever tried, at Monk's Kettle in San Francisco. I was excited to try it, but found the nitro gave off a way lighter mouthfeel and basically took away what I liked about Old Rasputin. But to each their own.

So the nitro does lighten the viscosity? So if i want my motor oil mouth avoid the nitro version?

Nitro is an abomination. End of.

The bigger question is why not, since nitro lightens all beer styles.

Why not try one and find out for yourself?

I mean, I realize that in 2014 there is no point in drinking beer anymore. We have had an amazing break though where a constant bombardment of second hand regurgitated information via armchair cyber cicerones actually allows you to know what things taste like right through your computer.

That said, I'm old fashioned and still (probably mistakenly) believe that different people have different tastes.

I've always felt that nitro give a creamy, silk, smooth texture to the beer. I've had IPA's and stouts on nitro and I can appreciate the application of nitro in both cases as I like the change in mouthfeel that nitro provides. However, it does seem to mask some of the complexities of the beer at times on the palate...my opinion only of course.

It seems more like you are looking for people to affirm an opinion that Left Hand has made a mistake in making a nitro version of Wake Up Dead because you personally like a thicker bodied beer.

I'll let The Dude sort this one out for you. "Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."

Yes, nitro lightens body. I personally hate nitro for imperial stouts. I recently had Old Rasputin on nitro, and I honestly felt like I might as well drink a Guinness.

I've always experienced a thicker, more full body with nitro beers and typically don't like them. I don't get nitro at all. From my understanding, it is supposed to be to mimic the body and mouthfeel of a cask ale.. But I never have found this true. It does the opposite in my opinion. Do I have it all wrong?

How is Wake Up Dead non-nitro? I recently tasted the nitro, and I haven't tried the non-nitro. Worth looking for? I am a big fan of Old Rasputin.

I'm not a fan of nitro anything but it sure makes Old Raspy look purdy in the glass.
