Greetings from Syracuse, fellow beer lover. While I enjoy many different craft brews, and am always experimenting, if I had to pick my current favorite it would be Lagunitas Hop Stoopid. Knowing what you know about this particular beer, I was hoping you could recommend similar beers I should try. Thanks!

I actually prefer Lagunitas Maximus, bonus that it's $8.99 a six pack.

Hop stoopid is hard to beat for the price along with maximus by Lagunitas. But if you like those I would recommend looking for Double Jack by Firestone Walker, Mercenary by Odell, Dirtwolf by Victor, the 4/20 release of enjoy by from Stone and oh how could I forget Sucks also from Lagunitas.

It's nice, but do you think it's similar to Racer 5?

Hop Stoopid was my introduction to the new IPA movement. I'd second Stone's Enjoy By 4/20 when it comes out, and Lagunitas Sucks. Those are the two must try's. After that it opens up a lot.

Ninkasi Tricerahops. I thought the flavors were similar.

Headwaters pale and dirtwolf by victory, greenflash's imperial & WC IPA, double jack, Oskar blues deviant dales & the gubna, and I would try to get some Midwest examples too: FFF, half acre, if you're on the east coast get to hillstead farms too.

I think that the only other real comparisons would be Maximus and Sucks. I don't know if it's the yeast or mash temps, but lagunitas has a residual sweetness to their IPA's that I havent found in any other beer. Odell Mercenary, would be the closest that I have tasted.

They don't even make it to Midwest, let alone east coast. However. Considering I haven't tried this one I might give it a shot. I just don't like how they don't put any easily observable freshness date on the bottle

Westbrook - Shane's big DIPA. Very fresh right now and a solid dbl IPA.

i love hop stoopid also. If you like those fruity, sweeter, ales. Try sixpoint hi res, lagunitas sucks, and nugget nectar

The last time bombers of Hop Stoopid touched down here they were gone in hours. I've got the radar and satellites working around the clock to give me an early warning of its next UK appearance.

I do too Because its a more full body IPA higher abv and its more for your money . I pay 10.99 now here in atl . Like Steve b 24 said hi res is probably better . I can't drink enough of that unbelievable beer from six point. I could be their spokesperson and sales rep I love it so much.

In a different direction, but fresh Flower Power is hard to beat and should be available to you in NY. You can also get Gandhi Bot.

I think Hop Stoopid is similar to Enjoy By and actually might be a bit better as it's cheaper and Enjoy By, at least in bottles, has that oniony thing which Hop Stoopid doesn't have.

New Belgium Ranger and Rampant taste pretty similar to me.

Also a local beer (2nd Shift's Brew Cocky) that uses the Falconer's Flight hop blend, so I'm guessing other beers using FF would taste similar.

Word. I'm drinking a Maximus as I type this. Bought a case few days ago for $38 and this beer is seriously great. I think I actually like it better than Sucks. Definitely prefer it over Hop Stoopid.

Just try whatever DIPAs your local has because the only thing that is going to happen here is spouting off beers that either have no access to, or the eternal Sucks response
