Aside from Belgian Strong Dark Ales, are there any stouts from Belgium that more aptly fit the style, or come close to RIP's?

The only one I can think of is Hercule Stout from Brasserie Ellezelloise. The thing is it comes to mind not so much for being on style, but because it's the only Belgian beer straight up labeled as a "STOUT".

Aside from Troubadour and Hercule, there is also Buffalo Stout from van den bossche (though it is definitely on the sweeter side), as well as Dupont Monk's Stout (this one stands out in that it is more of a Belgian take on a dry stout than a BSDA with more roasted malts as many are). Also there is De Ranke Noir de Dottignies, De La Senne Stouterik, and De Dolle Extra Export Stout.

If you see Smisje Catherine the Great, dont be fooled. Despite the name and the labeling, it is much more a quad than a stout.

Totally agree with Black Albert...This Belgian stout tastes like it was brewed by Cigar City...

Beers like Noir de Dottignies are BSDA to my opinion. In The Netherlands, we have got a few nice stouts as well. But thats off topic.

Boulevard Imperial Stout, of course American made, but Belgian-style due to use of Belgian yeast & is blended. I've heard great things about it and if it's to the calibur that Rye-on-Rye and Saison-Brett were, it is sure to be good.

Confused as to how a beer from a brewery that has been around for longer than another brewery could taste like it is from the newer brewery. In addition, none of Cigar City's Belgian style beers have exactly set the world on fire. Seems like more of a damning comment than a compliment.

Hercule Stout is the only stout my wife really enjoys. Black Albert is amazing. I am a huge fan of the Black Damnation Series. Pretty much any of De Struise's dark beers are wonderful. Monk's Stout by Dupont is decent. You might also want to look at stouts from the Netherlands. De Molen make some excellent beers.

Allagash Black is the best one that I've tried... I bought Sam Adam's Thirteenth Hour Last night and was severely disappointed. Had a thin mouth feel and a sour taste to it- like a lambic. Now I'm stuck half a 750ml bottle that I may not be able to drink. >.<

I picked up a 4 pack of Allagash black, but ended up going home with a different beer. Will try it next time.
I loved 13th hour. I didn't get much of a sour taste to it at all, but it should be noted that it is made with cosmic mother funk, which is where the sourness probably comes from.

Yeah, I was on Sam Adam's site the other day and noticed a lot of their beers had that "Cosmic Mother Funk."
As far as I know, this was my first experience with that yeast strain, but I have to say I'm not a fan...
BTW, Nice pic. dude... Love me some P&R
