Can anyone that drinks Jai Alai regularly comment on differences in taste from different dates? I've mentioned this before in the past, but again this week a month old six pack taste much different to me than others. I've had some that are very "juicy" and fruit forward, while this one was very muted.

i just drank one canned 1/28/14... not vibrant at all, more of a stale OJ flavor to it and it was rather sweet compared to what I remember.... +1 for the cans though

This is why I only buy jai alai on draft. Not worth it for cans.

I've always found differences between batches. Always hit or miss, never bad though. The good stuff will be back soon

I think the bigger CCB gets the more inconsistent their beers will be.
So sad too. I drink ALOT of Jai Alai and I've noticed this a lot over the last 6 months

    This for sure.
On tap I don't care for jai alai anymore since I am always around cycle brewing fixie.

I've noticed even White Oak Jai Alai doesn't taste as flavorful and juicy as I remember in the past. Might be me getting used to drinking it often.

Should do a 2012/2014 Jai Alai side by side and see which we like better.

Ahhh is it good? I haven't had any Cycle brews yet. So many options in that area.

It's all a matter of freshness, if it's past 3 weeks old, it won't be vibrant at all.

in my experience Jai Alai suffers one of the biggest drop-offs with age. so good fresh.

Fixie is one of the best regular beers that cycle makes. 4.7% also!

I only buy jai alai fresh from the brewery! I have definitely become a jai alai snob. 2 weeks is my limit!

I had a can last week that was dated 12/4. Sure, it was malty and the hops had faded, but it wasn't bad by any means. I don't drink Jai Alai super often, but I've never noticed differences between cans that couldn't be explained by age alone.

I also strongly prefer it in cans vs. draft. The aroma you get when you first crack open a can just cannot be matched by a pint poured on draft.

The last batch I had was a bit stale. Kohatu is tasting much better, and Tocobaga too.
But I may just have gotten a bit bored of jai alai after drinking it so much. It's still better than most of the other ipas I can get down here in South FL. I have been meaning to give cat 3 and 5 another try though.

You won't be blown away with 3 and 5, at least in cans. Haven't had them on draft lately though.

that doesn't really make sense. we brew Jai Alai literally dozens of times each week with a lot of being blended together. i can honestly say that i think we have Jai Alai down at this point.

however, palates change all the time. i've had beer from the same keg on two different days that tasted different to me. that's the nature of the palate.

I agree, palettes change. In my case, I taste it often enough to see shifts back and forth on the beer. I believe it's because the hops fade very quickly. Maybe other beers do the same and I'm just spoiled to taste week or two week old Jai Alai.

The worst Jai Alai I ever had was from a convenience store in St. Augustine. First.World.Problems.

I haven't noticed much variation since the bottle-era. They've been fairly consistent since canning. And I say this as someone who is not a particular fan of the beer. Too sweet for me. The High Seas batches (excluding the Hop 529) have been far better, IMO. Dry and grassy. Great stuff.

Picked up some 3/12 dated cans today also. I'm liking Jai Ali more since the house yeast change. Can't say the same for Maduro.
