It could be perfectly fine or a disaster. I'd say keep a close eye on the weather forecast and be prepared to bail if it looks bad, though things should improve rapidly for the next few weeks. The Willeys Store in Greensboro can advise you about the dirt roads in the immediate area. Mud season can be ugly but if you know where you're going and take your time you should make it.

Warren is just off Rt. 100, not some tiny road. I think that Lawson's makes the finest beer (no pun intended) I've ever had and it would be a shame to not get any. The Warren Store is a great place to eat and stretch your legs. It would also be a damn shame not to come back without a case of Heady Topper, if it's not your favorite beer it makes a great gift. I think your plan is a bit bold and maybe done in two parts, and Tree House, NEBCO, savored a bit more- like this trip should be savored a bit more. Just my opinion.

I don't want to thread jack but here goes. Anyone ever stay at Little River State Park while visiting Waterbury and bike ride from there to Waterbury? Any cabs available? Thank you.

I think I'll be staying at Little River some time in May. and there's is a cab service out of Stowe but they charge, according to the Best Western, at least $30 just to pick you up plus what ever the fare is.

Sounds like a good trip. If you change your mind and are going to eat and possibley have a drink or two, I would strongly suggest stopping in at Prohibition Pig in Waterbury. I'm planning on going on April 19th for Lawson's Finest 6th Anniversary from Long Island. I'm also going to hit up the Alchemist and Hill Farmstead. I Did the Alchemist last May before the limit of one case and picked up 8 cases. The worst part of the trip is you'll be partaking in all the beer but you have to limit yourself because you're going solo and it's alot of driving. Cheers! Enjoy.

Just as a heads up, you're aware The Alchemist cannery is now closed to the public, right? I wanted to make sure you knew that since you mentioned you'd be hitting up The Alchemist during your trip.

For what it's worth, the regular barrel aged Framminghammer as well as both the Coffee and Vanilla variants are in abundance at the Yankee Spirits in Attleboro, MA. I haven't looked at your route, but if you're taking I-95 through southern Mass., this is an easy spot to hit.

    Well, I'm back.

I rented a car on Monday night and drove to Philly hoping to snag some PtY, or at least some PtE and some interesting things from the bottle shops. I found out that PtY kicked early in the day, but I decided to go anyway. Left at about 6:30 from Jersey City and arrived at Local 44 at about 8:15. I was disappointed at the lack of RR (the proprietor said they get like a case every few months. Sheesh.); all they had was Damnation. All was not lost, however, as I purchased a Bell's Third Coast Old Ale (didn't make it to NY in bottles this year), a Black Albert(!), and an Uncle Jacob's Stout(!). Got the last one!

Got back into the car and drove over to Monk's Cafe. Hello there, Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig on tap. Nice to meet you. I elected to NOT get a bottle of Supplication for $30.

Went to Beer Heaven near the highway and got a Sweet Baby Jesus and a Hell on Wood from DuClaw, a Deschutes Jubelale, a DC Brau Penn Quarter Porter, and a Lost Abbey Angel's Share(!). Not a bad haul all around. Left at about 10:00 for home.

    Then... off to Vermont!

Left about 6:10 yesterday morning from NYC in my rental car, arrived in Montpelier at about 10:40, at which point I filled up gas and went to Hunger Mtn. I was surprised at how little beer there was there. I wasn't expecting full cases of Heady, but I even thought the regular selection was small. The only things I found worth buying were a variety of FiftyFifty Eclipses ($23.99 each), but they didn't have the Elijah Craig, so I passed. I ended up with just a Bruery Tart of Darkness, which I can get here in NY, but not for that price ($16.99). Some might say it's ridiculous that I went to Vermont and didn't come home with any Heady or Lawson's, but them's the breaks. A guy on line at HF said Wednesday is the best day for HF, but the worst for Heady.

Off to Hill Farmstead! They weren't kidding when they said dirt roads. Crazy. Anyway, I got there about 11:55 and was 7th or 8th in line. I was going to pass on the $5 tasting option, but then I remembered that it's a 3 growler limit per time through the line, so I tasted the 3 beers I wasn't buying (Edward, GR Legitimacy, Simcoe). I ended up with 750 ml growlers of Susan, Double Citra, and Abner(!). I also bought a 375 ml bottle of Madness & Civilization #3. Absolutely couldn't pass up a mix of Everett and Damon.

Back in the car at about 1:10 after hitting the port-o-potty (gross) and off to Table & Vine. Got there about 4:30. What an amazing place! I was surprised at what they had there (both good and bad). The only JA I got was a Cascadian Schwarzbier, but I also got a Lost Abbey Serpent's Stout and Boulevard Dark Truth, Imperial Stout, and BBQ!

Hit some bad traffic on the way down to CT, and NEBCO wasn't pouring anything I wanted, so I went home in the pouring rain. Drank the Double Citra last night. Good times all around. Would I do it again? Absolutely.

Wonder if you could have gotten HT in Barre on Wednesday? Seems you could have found some somewhere. How long was he wait at HF? Did you eat anywhere?

I got there 5 minutes before opening and I was about 7th or 8th on line. I was out of there by 1:05 or so.

I did not eat anywhere. I picked up Dunkin' on my way out and ate that all day.
