Our cities St. Pats day parade was last Saturday, and finishes up at the brewery I help at. I put a 14 hour day in that day, and had had enough of fake Irishness for this year, so didn't do anything on the actual day. Thusly, this "Irish" brew is new to me today: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/32830/116447/?ba=beertunes

Here's my idea of Irish music (I swear, if I have to hear some crappy local band sing "Whiskey in the Jar" 1 more time, I'ma gonna snap!):

NiceTaps also has good taste in Irish music.

I quite agree. This was the first RG tune I ever heard: . Clearly, it made an impression.

New Bruery Sunday! Yes, it's time for adventures in beer drinking, the triquell! Today, I'm cracking open a 750 of the Bruery's Oude Tart, their take on a Flanders Red Ale.

Very tasty beer, but I prefer Rodenbach in the style. Once you take into consideration the price, I prefer two Rodenbachs over this beer.

Everything is solid and tasty, but nothing particularly stands out as an exceptional Flanders Red Ale.

I can't imagine I'll be back around for round 4, NBSers, but I'll be following along with your new experiences. Cheers!

    New English Barleywine Sunday!
Its cloudy and cool round here, the hockey games over and I'm thirsty.
Tired Hands Perfectly Preserved Brain is a smoked English Barleywine. Brewed with a plethora of specialty malt, including a good portion of cherry wood smoked brewer's malt. 8.2% abv
    [IMG]

A: Pours with little carbonation with a few bubbles lacing the glass briefly. The color is a dark murky brown that against the light yields brilliant ruby amber hues.
S: Not much when cool but as it warms the malts lightly appear as does some toffee and some chocolate.
M: Super smooth. With a crisp malty finish.
T: Up front at first you get a puff of light smoke that seamlessly blends into the more malty and clean finish on the back end.
O: This is a very unique and tasty interpretation of the the English Barleywine. The beer itself is damn smooth and there is no hint of the 8.2%. The taste is clean only gets better as it warms.

Enjoy the rest of the Weekend!

Good afternoon my friends. As per usual on a Sunday it's daddy/daughter day while the wife is at work. After watching Frozen for the third time today I felt the need for something to warm me up. The chamomile in Saint Somewhere's Saison Athene works nicely towards that end, while the fruity funk on top of the carbonation is refreshing enough for the 81 degree weather outside.

Loving this fresh Hunahpu...velvety smooth mouthfeel. I get a ton of cinnamon and just a little of the chocolate. I think laying it down for awhile will let the other flavors shine through. Happy Sunday all.

    New Malt Liquor Sunday!

Ok, I've seen this beer forever, never giving it a try.

I'm glad I did! This beer doesn't have the best aroma though, I'm going to keep it real. But the flavor is that of grains and has a fruity finish that I wasn't expecting. Of course it hides it's ABV, which is a good thing. The body on this beer isn't your typical AB product. There is a smooth roundness to it, not just water.

    More details here!

Good afternoon, BAs/NBSers! My day started off trying Jackie O's Java the Stout from a growler. If you like coffee, you MUST try this beer. It honestly tasted like an iced coffee to me, but better than almost any coffee shop I've been to. I'm definitely going to have to try the Dawn Chorus coffee used to make this.

I moved onto this - a new brewery for me, I found it on a recent trip to NJ.

What a FANTASTIC IPA. Imagine every IPA you've had, take the best characteristics of each and combine them in one beer. Very complex, balanced, just a pleasure to drink. My full reviews for each can be found on their respective beer pages. I hope everyone is drinking well on this first Sunday of spring!

I agree! This is a Fantastic brew! No matter the style ( Brewer calls it a Pale Ale). I just killed my Forty, I think I should crack open my other MO!

    New Imperial IPA Sunday

    Greetings NBS,

Looks like another action packed day on this fine thread. Southern, CT was chilly and overcast today with some biting wind. Yesterday was warmer with some sunshine and windy - looks like spring can't be too far away (fingers crossed).

Our 21 month old daughter appears to be getting the rest of her teeth in, so she has had us up at all hours of the night recently, so some sleep was a priority this weekend as well as some "spring is almost here" chores. We were able to enjoy the sunshine with a nice long bike ride yesterday which was much needed.

Onto the NB for S. This DIPA was ok - a bity malty for my expectations and really the style in general. None the less, always great to try something new in the spirit of Sundays:

    Greetings All:

IRA (India Red Ale) from Double Mountain brewing. It's a pretty good IPA. I'm not sure I'd call it red.
    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16094/37232/?ba=RJLarse

It came in an odd sized bottle. 1 pint .9 ounces for $3.99. I guess it's still better than pub prices, but I like a full 22 ounce bomber.

Clear and sunny here in the Columbia Basin. Grass is starting to turn green.

    Until next week,

    Happy Trails!

    Jester King!

It's an odd mix -- English mild with farmhouse yeast -- but it's low ABV and interesting, so not a total loss. And I don't mind drinking a beer outside my comfort zone from time to time ... call it good research.

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/24018/86414/?ba=Premo88

8 IBUs!!! One thing about Jester King: They make what *they* want, screw the masses! Farmhouse yeast, wild yeast and brett ... this son of a gun is sour.

And pound for pound, Jester King has the coolest labels in the land. I guess this dude's set of teeth are a comment on English dentistry?

Hope your brackets are in order ... Cheers!
