My suggestion above would probably make mules WAY worse though. There'd be a lot of "can you swing by Tired Hands with me at 9:30, bro?" then being able to come back at 4pm or whatever and not have the commitment of waiting in line. That would potentially make things worse...

An easy fix is to not announce the exact time tickets will be distributed. This worked quite well at Captain Lawrence for releases until people started taking multiple tickets (Captain didn't monitor the tickets)--which is why I suggested writing down people's names to prevent multiples.

Westbrook did this last summer at their BA Mexican Cake release. They slowly announced through social media that tickets were available at the brewery. They gave you a numbered ticket and wrote your name down on a list (mostly to make sure that you were of legal age). Everything later that day went smoothly from there. Now for the Siberian Black Magic Panther release a week and a half ago, they didn't even announce that this beer was even being made (at least I didn't know) and again announced on social media that this was available at the brewery. They had limits (and held back bottles) for 3 days to make sure that those who couldn't get there the first day or two could at least get some by the weekend. I'll be curious to see what they do for the next BA Mexican Cake release!!

I can't say I remember you or the green beanie, but we were literally ushered INSIDE the door, then, without saying a word, they ran out on the guy ahead of me (I forget his name, but he was from jersey and knew Allie and Glenn, the couple right behind me), so we were the first people shut out. I had to find out from him (well that and seeing them packing it up and leaving with my own eyes) that they were done. What I really don't get though, is why they would say the bottle count is 400 when announcing the bottle release, and then saying "Oh, we just MADE 400, they weren't all for sale" the day after the event. That info kinda would have helped a lot before people who were told they were 150ish in line actually got I line and waited for 2.5 hours, Jean. This was my first bottle release at TH although I've been going there maybe a year, and it definitely left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. While waiting for a pour after the bottles ran out, I saw at least 3 people just come to their counter and were handed 2 bottles. Believers?

But with that said, they still make amazing beer and this won't prevent me from visiting the brewery in the future or even from future bottle releases. Obviously they know the problems by now, hopefully they fix them. And for such a small brewpub, to have people to be able to lineup around 11:30 and get their allotment for most bottle releases (although those days might be gone?) is pretty impressive. They just need to do an ACCURATE bottle count and ticket the releases. The solution to most of their problems is exceedingly simple. Let's hope Jean and company take heed.

And announced releases are a good way to reward people willing to wait in line for a long time to try some great beer, who maybe just don't find it worth it to drive very far for a draft. The world isn't perfect. I'm no fan of mules for hoarding/trading, but if I don't happen to live near a brewery making great beer, why should I also be shut out of the ability to drive to get a beer from a brewery who is? I'm going to drink both of my bottles, and I apparently just wanted them more than someone who showed up late. It sucks it takes effort to procure beer these days, but I'm always in favor of giving it to the people who made an effort rather than just those who live in a favorable location.

Neither argument is necessarily correct, but that's just another point of view.

Anyone know anything about the beer TH is doing with Dave Witte of Municipal Waste/Discordance Axis/Human Remains fame? Sposed to be called "Play Fast". What style, label art, when's the release? I was in the grindcore/powerviolence scene back in the '90s and I would love to snag one. Definitely up for a trade. I want the beer, but I also want the bottle to keep. Thanks.

That beer was on tap for the last few weeks and was fantastic. Not sure about bottles.

Thanks. Dang, I'm not too big on chile beers. If it is bottled, and has a cool ass label, I still would like one. I'll keep it on my radar.

When they are doing releases of 1000+ bottles at a time, will everyone stop whining? :stuck_out_tongue:

This is where I hate the beer world right now.

They'll drive 2 hours, wait in line for 3 more just to buy 2 $16 bottles, when they could easily sit there, drink a beer for half the price or two and then go home without waiting in line at all.

But then again, you can't trade your already drank beer and growlers aren't nearly as desirable....

I got there around 11, saw the line, then went home and drank some bourbon.

(Passing out tickets is the way to go. Voodoo does this at their releases, absolutely no bitching after the K13 release)

Would that be one of the bottles you owe me from the Biggest Loser BIF from January?

I love TH and every beer I've had of theirs is great, but I'd never go to a bottle release, wait in line for hours for two bottles of beer, when you can get growlers for about the same price. I don't trade beer, so I'm ok not buying any of their bottles, they don't really need my $$$.

So just to let everyone know there is a bad trader thread for @DaGrizz involving Tired Hands Brewing. Don't want anyone else to get burned.

Tat2, thanks for the heads up. Wonder what happened here as this trader had some activity. I am sure that many of the TH fanboys know this guy.
