I had one a month or two ago as well and I do not recall any tartness or sourness. It was pretty delicious!

Edit: no tartness besides a very small amount coming from the cherries. Definitely not infected.

This part of your post reeks of misinformation. Care to explain further?

I probably could have stated it better. Not every bottle of CW BA stouts are infected, but in my experience, and others I've known, there seem to be significantly higher percentage when compared to other BA stouts. CW announced that they are no longer brewing Peruvian Morning due to this very problem, and we all know how many infection problems there have been in the past.

I'm not sure what else about my post "reeks of misinformation," so perhaps you can be more specific.

This is a pretty bold statement and I surely don't want to get in an "argument" over this, but do you have any facts, data compared to other breweries/BA stouts that supports this????

Bold? I didn't intend it to be. No, just my experience and others I know. I think I stated that fairly clearly. How many other breweries do you know that had to pull yet another infected batch of their BA stout w/coffee and then announce they will no longer brew it? I'm not ripping on Central Waters, trust me. I'm just stating that CW is probably having problems due to the fact that the base beer is much lower abv than many other BA imperial stouts. Take BCBS, for example. Have you ever heard of an infected BCBS? Before John Laffler left GI, I went to a tasting he spoke at, and he was addressed the fact that they never had worry about the infection risk of adding any fruit or any other ingredient since the base beer from BCBS is well over 10%.

Since you've repeated it as fact twice now, I assume you have a link to this announcement you would be happy to share with us?

They don't say definitively that they're done brewing it, but if you read through the article, it doesn't look good:

    http://blog.centralwaters.com/

With all the infection problems in the past few years, do you honestly think they can still produce it without making significant changes to the beer?

In other words, facts made up based on suppositions? Smells like misinformation to me.

Come on, they have a bottle of it hung by a noose in the brewery, and the title is "Peruvian..Mourning the loss of a beer...." lol I think its safe to say they are ready to kill PM. I love CW as much as the next person and I will no doubt continue to support them but they seem to know that they either need to scrap PM or make some drastic changes

Exactly. One of CW's beers has been consistently infected over the last 3 years. Not sure how that = "nearly everything".

And besides hearing John Laffler mention something about infection, how can you prove the rest of your post? I said misinformation because people take the internet as gospel, and if statements are made and not tested, they are assumed to be true. You stated, as fact, that barrels/fruit/coffee/base beer that are <7%, are contributors to (or increase risk of) infection.

I'm just asking where those statements are coming from. And after your leading statement of "nearly every CW BA beer is infected" I have a hard time believing your second statement. Educate me.

Um, this isn't the infected PM thread, go argue about it in that thread.

Now where the hell is Cherry Stout! It's practically April.

I'm starting to doubt that they are even going to bottle this, maybe just keep it all for kegs? Or they are just being extra careful with it and keeping it at the brewery to make sure its not also infected

Okay, back on topic. I emailed CW recently (last Thursday), here's what they said:

Me: "I had a quick conversation with a CW employee who was pouring beer at the Food and Froth event at the MKE Museum recently, and he indicated that Central Waters was going to bottle both Cherry Stout and Exodus this year, though in limited quantities. Is this information accurate?"

CW: "Yes Bob - you got accurate information. The Cherry Stout will be out in the next couple of weeks - Exodus will be about two months! Thanks."

Save some for me, K?
