I guess I am just still trying to have faith that something serious might be going on and the dude has genuinely been unable to respond. That maybe he is a decent dude, but someone else is using his account or something crazy like that. Who knows. I know, I am reaching, but I just hate to assume the worst in someone who seemed like a great trader when we first worked the trade out. I am sending him one final message and will update on here tomorrow night with whatever happens. Thanks again everyone.

You are giving this too much thought. I have had probably 500 trades through the years on three different sites and this isn't totally uncommon, it has happened to me many times. It is frustrating but not the worst thing to happen. You should just contact Todd and have him nuke it, regardless of what dude does or doesn't do.

I swear 6-7 years ago this dude would have been called out in a heart beat and no one would think twice about it. Maybe its now acceptable to back out of deals after exchanging addresses and to ignore people when someone decides to change their mind. That's the last I'll say about it. Regardless, if you don't mind, whenever you get around to it pm me his name so I don't to deal with his bullshit.

No, it's not acceptable. Life is too short to waste time dealing with buttheads.

Perhaps the "old lady" found out about this trade and it was the last straw. She offed him and has been logging in under his user name to track down all of his trading partners...or he could just be a dick.

Even if this isn't what happened, can we just pretend like it was?

Not nice to fall off the earth after promising delivery, that's the handshake part , addresses exchanged shipping set. Brother Kenneth although not losing beer may very well have purchased beer/ xtras for this trade costing him money. If he's active on this site ignoring messages I'd out him he's a step away from burning someone.

At least out him to make it clear that this behavior isn't acceptable. Hold off on the negative feedback until he has a chance to explain and make it right. He might have a little more incentive now that the community is involved.

Communication is what differentiates this trade from a non-trade/positive feedback from a negative feedback/bad trader. Had the trader simply backed out AND communicated, even after addresses exchanged and trade request accepted, it would have been absolutely no big deal whatsoever. We all have personal problems and can be infinitely understanding when it comes to sudden hardship. Unless you lost both hands in a freak accident, there's no reason to not communicate.

Once again, no beer lost cannot be a singular indicator for the other person being a bad trader. Brother Kenneth's beers have been held hostage for weeks. He has spent a lot of his time trying to find out what's going because he made a commitment and he's fearing for his reputation because of the whole situation all the while he doesn't want to have happen to someone else.

Once of the best things OP did was ask the other dude to ship first...This guy might be a dirtbag out looking to steal beer..I just hope he did not do this to someone else but the other person shipped

Time to out him. If he has a legitimate excuse he will show up on this thread and clear things up. If not and no communication is received by him then he has been outed as a bad trader.

I find it odd that a lot of traders lack any sense of the obvious. "I sent messages every day for a month. I just want to know if the trade is still on or not." Doesn't take a genius to figure that out. Move on OP. Don't leave feedback. Just move on.

Wow, thanks for the insult. I am not asking if the trade is still on or not by posting this thread. My specific questions to the community were when should I out him and should I leave negative feedback or not. You at least answered one of those questions, so thanks for that I guess? I am glad you find it so easy to "move on," but some of us would like to maintain the positive reputation we have in the trading community. I am glad that is not a concern of yours.

I don't think it was in insult, it just seems obvious to at least some of us. Hope it all works out.

I find it odd that a lot of traders have so poor reading comprehension. Go back and read what the OP wrote. Nowhere does he even remotely imply that he thinks the trade is still on.

    Really?

"Hey man, not to be a dick or whatever, but I can see that you're accessing the site but not responding to my messages. I'm okay with a delay if that's what has happened, but I also feel that communication is important with trading. Is everything alright? Are you no longer wanting to do the trade or something? Just let me know. I would appreciate an update, as I have these bottles down for an upcoming tasting and hope I am still getting them."

Yeah, was trying to come across as reasonable just in case something had happened. But my questions to the community were not looking for opinions about whether or not to complete the trade. Let's all stop going back and forth now and get back to work :grinning: I have gotten all the opinions needed on this and have made my decision. I will update the thread this evening to let you all know what went down. So far, still no message from the guy. Cheers!
