The transit system (subway and bus) is pretty good to get around in Chicago. Not from there, but used it when I was on vacation there 2 years ago

You can get a multi-day transit pass and use it for both the bus and train

It's pretty easy to cab around, but if you are comfortable with public transportation, you could take the blue line / bus / red line to most places you are probably looking at.

Along with transit, you should download the uber, sidecar, and lyft apps. You can probably get some free money to use towards rides by starting an account. I would avoid renting a car. Parking can be a pain in the ass sometimes, as well as traffic.

Cabs are easy but you shouldn't fear the L and buses. Public trans can get you to every Chicago brewery. I think trains alone actually as I think they are all within a couple blocks of a train.

Not yet, unless you get lucky. I talked to a store in Arlington Heights and they said their shipment is arriving this week.

Shipments have arrived in the NW Suburbs - it's going fast so you may want to call before making the trip

    March 22, 2014 Update

All of this good stuff will be released 3/24

    NEW! Mint Truffle Abduction

Along with the delicate first blooms of flowers, and a soft downy layer of grass, giant alien plants thirsty for Mint Chocolate Stouts are also sprouting this spring! Be warned. These alien plants are at first very polite and charming; they'll ask for water, then they'll ask for whatever beer ya got in your fridge, and then they will demand a PW Mint Truffle Abduction Imperial Stout brewed with mint leaves and cacao and they won't take "no" very kindly. Enjoy this before they do! $10.99, 22 oz, 10.5% ABV

    NEW! Pipeworks Down Unda
This Imperial IPA brewed with tons of exciting Australian and New Zealand hops such as Summer, Waimea, and Wakatu, has juicy papaya and guava notes as well as a pleasant herbal aroma. Like a boomerang, we keep coming back for more of this one. $10.99, 22 oz, 10% ABV

    Derketo
This hopped up Belgian IPA remains one of our favorite to brew, just for the pleasant aroma. The super ripe Amarillo and Citra hops compliment the gentle spice of the Belgian yeast perfectly. We thought the little mermaid on the label would be the perfect representative for our brew, as this beer is part of two worlds - old and new.
    $10.99, 22oz, 10% ABV

All beers will be released on 3/24.

    On the Brewing Horizon:

NEW! Nagami Equinox - Golden Belgian Ale with Kumquats and honey brewed in collaboration with Trenchermen restaurant
Chai Dog - Chai spiced milk stout
Pipeworks Ninja Vs Unicorn - Hoppy Double IPA

Going down unda tonight. Picked up mint because I felt I had to since I've had all the others (besides barrel aged). I might need to rethink the "I'll try anything once" attitude, it's expensive. Although at least it's going to support a good company

Anyone know if there's still any BA Last Kiss/BA Murderous floating around the north suburbs? In search of a few murderous and at least one last kiss.

    March 28, 2014 Update

Release of this trifecta of perfecta begins on 3/31

    NEW! Nagami Equinox

Nagami Equinox, a semi-dry Belgian golden ale brewed with honey, Mandarina Bavaria hops and 100 pounds of kumquats, pureed and added to the boil is just as refreshing as we hope'd it'd be. Brewed in collaboration with Trenchermen restaurant as part of our City Wide Collab series, we're picking up aromas of white flowers, tropical fruit, a subtle spice, and of course kumquats. $10.99, 22 oz, 9% ABV

    Chai Dog
Chai Dog, a spiced Imperial Milk Stout with vanilla and chocolate, is our answer to the chai tea. It's a rich, silky brew with a fragrant kick from the green cardamom, ginger, and anise. It's been a while since we've made this complex and balanced milk stout, and it's returned is like receiving a visit from a globe-trotting friend. $10.99, 22 oz, 10% ABV

    Pipeworks Ninja vs Unicorn
Packed pounds on pounds on pounds of Citra, Falconer's and Zythos hops, this batch of our "flagship" DIPA is tasting as good as ever, perhaps, better than ever. We've upped the malt bill to get that extra .5 percent ABV. The epic battle rages on...who will be the victor. Will there be a victor?
    $9.99, 22oz, 9% ABV

    On the Brewing Horizon:

    Derketo - Belgian DIPA
Imperial End of Days - Milk Stout with chilies, vanilla and chocolate
Pipeworks Down Unda - IIPA with Australian and New Zealand hops
