What beer are you drinking now? #524

Are you viewing it on an iPad? On my computer it's right side up, on iPad always upside down? Why is that?

 

Just about to open a bottle of 8 Wired Hopwired IPA—anyone know how to tell the date on these bottles? Any input is appreciated!

Edit: Nevermind. I was going to write a review of this beer but it's clearly not very fresh—some hop bitterness is there but there's no punch at all and there's a hint of that distinctly cider-like aged hop flavor underneath the malt. It's still plenty tasty, just not the way an IPA should be. It's like an "India Pale Ale" after it's arrived in India.

(Yes yes, I know, false/misleading nomenclature, I get it. Just making a tongue-in-cheek rhetorical point.)

 

You had me at maple syrup and bourbon. I really want to try this one!

 

Drinking a couple local brews tonight, a collaboration Belgian Stout from Seventh Son and Rockmill Brewing. They were brewed one week apart, one week at Seventh Son and the other week at Rockmill. For the most part it's the same beer, but there were slight differences in the malt, water and ingredients used.

Here's the version brewed at Seventh Son:



And afterwards I drank the version brewed at Rockmill:



Both were good beers, but I liked the Seventh Son version more. The Rockmill one was more "Belgian-like", and the Seventh Son one had more stout character to it, it was more roasty and chocolately which I prefer. Both are definitely worth trying!

 

Ok.. And some chips. You get Grippo's in your neck of the woods?

 

That's a good man. I wouldn't part with my white oak or my rib.

Mean Old Tom? I have. I live in Maine so I'd had everything they've released except for Dinner which was a brewery only release and sold out the day before I was going to be able to get to the brewery.

 

You are killing it today! That beer is amazeballs, and I hate that term but it's the only thing I can think of when drinking that beer.

Beer review #741. Rogue Farms 7 Hop IPA.

I know Rogue gets trashed on a lot, but this is a damn fine IPA.
