So Crew Republic is what was formerly called Crew Alewerk? Same address and owners/brewers....

    Prosit!

Yes, they changed their name a bit, changed their layout and added a few new styles. I suppose their start two or three years ago was successful...

At least you know you're getting fresh beer.

I have been to the brewpub/restaurant in Öttingen a few times and was blown away by the tasty fresh beer. True story.

I read this and I guess I believe you, but I believe even more that you, HerrB and MattR are having some sort of secret competition to see who can get me to drink Oettinger again. It's not going to happen I tell you!

If Oettinger were for sale here at the same price as it is in Germany, I would be a regular purchaser. True story.

That would be about $8-9 for a 30 pack, unheard of beer price. Only works in brewery --> retailer scenario which they do.

I think I'd rather have a regular Bud or a Yuengling. In either case, a thread dedicated to German Craft Beer has ended up with some of the more respected German BA's singing the praises of Oettinger. Have to admit, I did not see that coming. :stuck_out_tongue:

Let's get the thread back on track...

Here's a cool looking event for those in/near Salzburg

Just saw Unertl's logo, forgot (somehow) all about them. Fantastic beers, especially both hefeweizens.

Köstritzer (part of Bitburger Gruppe) released their new line Meisterwerke today. Starting with a Pale Ale and a Witbier. I'm curious to see if those can be found in regular bottle shops within the next few months. They already released a new Kellerbier in February which can be found virtually everywhere now.
On this site and this (both German beer bloggers), they claim it was only an April fool's... Beer snobbery.

God, HD is more insular that even I thought. Köstritzer Kellerbier can be found everywhere? I have never even heard of it!!!

As I have posted before, I had always imagined that a wit would do exceptionally well in Germany. Like a Biermischgetranke flavor but an actual beer style (a la Blue Moon). Would love to give it a try.

I don't find the humor in this. Bitburger already has an entire brand, craftwerk, devoted to the craft sector. The joke would have made sense if weinstephan did it....

As I wrote above...beer snobbery. I bet Köstritzer is thankful for this kind of promotion.
I'm sure Köstritzer can brew both those styles wonderfully well and I'm curious to try them. Even if they're not "craft", I prefer well made beers at reasonable prices over products that simply scream "CRAFT!" at you and try to rob you with this tag.
