As I posted in the Beer Releases Parabola 2014 thread on essentially the same debate:

I'm sure you're a nice guy Infinite 1, and I mean no disrespect, but you have to understand he is in business and he has a legitimate point here. You don't have to agree and can take your business elsewhere, but the calling out and name calling are immature and unnecessary.

 

What was truly immature & unnecessary was the employee taunting him. If that's how the store wants to operate, just say, "Sorry, not sure about KBS this year." That ensures that he probably will come back in the future, maybe even for regular purchases. Now he won't. Just piss poor business acumen.

 

No. I don't always go there but when I need to pick up something fast I stop there cuz it's the nearest to my house.

 

Not for Indiana. It sounds like we are getting half of what we got last year

 

Telling a lie to a customer is never the way to go. Sure, he may come back, but only for the next limited release. His business acumen is actually very well thought out and evidently successful as he has no problem letting "Infinites" walk out and he's still in business. Being honest and telling a potential customer the reason he could not buy it was not taunting. In fact, he did Infinite a real service by letting him know the not so secret way to score limited releases: Go into that store and buy a sixer and a bomber off the shelf (I know, some of you just had a heart attack). Go home, drink, enjoy, repeat. Do that again for two or three more weeks. I can almost guarantee you that on the following visit, the guy will call you aside and tell you he just got so and so limited beer in and offer you one. Now be careful here, because the correct response is "Yes, I would, thank you" NOT "Do you think I can get three 'cause I need to take care of a couple trading buddies." In a couple months, Infinite will be able to get whatever that guy has.

 

Or you know, go to a shop that isn't run by jagoffs.

I rather get a lie and tell me you will get done soon but not sure when. That way I stop more often and maybe pick up a 6er or 2 of something else
