When I first got into craft beer it use to make me look the other way. Now four years later, I know not to judge a book by it's cover. Two hearted is a perfect example of that.

Perhaps you both just have ranidaphobia.

I'd wager it was deliberate; considering who they were spoofing.

I do think that it is dificult, with the history beer has, to not have breweries that embrace that past. There were so many pagan cultures that brewed beer that it only makes sense to reflect back and take that piece of history and pay homage. I'm Catholic, and have no problem buying these beers. I'm not drinking virgins blood, or beer brewed from witches cauldrins, its just beer man.

Edit: as a Christian I just feel there are much more important issues for me to stand my ground on, buying profane labels isn't going to land a guy in the inferno.

Graphics or logos wouldn't deter me from buying good beer. Hoppin Frog barrel aged
Boris is a very good beer albeit over priced.

Back on track, if prairie artisan ales didn't have so much hype behind them I would never have picked up anything from them.

I thought this post was about label art, not religious beliefs? Getting back on point, I don't give a darn about the art. Is the beer inside. I want the brewery/brewer to spend their time creating great beer, not great labels

I think a label might deter me from buying a beer for the first time if I see something else that catches my eye more and they both interest me the same amount. I don't like labels that seem like they're trying too hard, mostly.

At the end of the day though, I definitely care about what's inside the bottle.

I actually kind of like the PtE label. It's very simplistic but sometime that's a good thing.

True. But isn't it more fun when you can have both?

I've always been put off by overly elaborate label art. It just gave me the vibe that the beer was gimmicky. That along with the fact that craft beers often have ridiculous tryingtoohard names.

Doesn't for me but a label can make it stand out more for me at the store. I usually buy by the style and from what I heard about a brewer.

I'll grant you some of them, but don't ever talk bad about the Backwoods Bastard.

Bad beer deters me from buying certain beer. I could care less what's on the label. I usually do a little research while in a bottle shop anyway. The best looking brew is the one that's in my glass.

Put a turd on the label-if it's good beer I'll buy it. That being said, some brews do have "boring" labels and others look like sloppy tattoo art.
    It's what inside that counts.

Funny topic. If I know of a brewery/beer and like it I couldn't care less what is on the bottle. But if I'm just going down aisles randomly picking a new beer I'm definitely picking based on what bottle jumps out at me. For instance the Maine Beer Co bottles. The simplicity caught my eye, it gave off the vibe of some fine wine crafted at some small family winery or something. I picked up a Zoe and it was an instant favorite so I tried some more of their beers.

No chance I would just randomly choose say Raging Bitch using this process. But I've had it on tap, like the brewery so Ill get a 6 pack if I'm in the mood.
