Is it me or is the Bruery one of the Biggest culprits of the "Limited Release" hype that causes this type of indidents.
I didnt hear of anything like this at Huna day or DL day this year. But it seems to happen once amonth there.

    Just asking.

It's us Californians' way of releasing our pent-up aggression so that we can be super laid-back the rest of the time.

I think it's because they have like 4,000 different beers of which they make 180 of each!

So when I trade for this $4$ since it was sitting on shelves should I factor in any medical bills my trading partner had to pay after fighting for a bottle?

    Love it.

Also read the commentary on Bruery FB page. People are taking this way to seriously, before you know it we'll have a Xmas Walmart incident on our hands. The Bruery should probably consider passing out tickets to people in line as they come since there's usually an employee inside already to prevent these kind of things. Tickets worked wonders for Pliny the Younger kegs

ya, it seems like an obvious solution so the guys playing " marco brolo " are shut down before starting.

It doesn't have to be in order, either. If you have 180 beers, you hand out exactly 180 tickets. Then people can pick things up at their leisure, and if Marco Brolo (nice) wants to fight about getting his beer 15 minutes sooner, at least you can walk away from the encounter knowing his douchebaggery isn't going to cut someone else out of the deal.

Edit: If I ran a brewery only release, I'd hand out tickets, and if somebody tried to line cut, I'd charge them 20% more over the regular price. That'd cut that crap out real fast.

with how insane releases typically are these days, the fact that some breweries don't hand out tickets or wristbands (or SOMETHING) to prevent a ton of different poor experiences or situations is fucking mind blowing.

Or at least put out a roll of tickets with no supervision whatsoever...

I could imagine Bruery pufferfish grabbing handfuls of tickets then puffing up if someone calls him out on it

Has anyone checked eBay yet to see if this guy put these up?! Nothing I hate more, than people getting these limited releases and then putting them on eBay.
But I agree with this ticket idea, regulation needs to happen.

Independence Brewing, which is a smaller brewery operation in Austin, does something like this every month at their open house, although admittedly its not a madhouse like some of these tastings. They have a guy with wristbands who walks the line, and stands at the end handing out wristbands. Where he is standing is where you get in line when you get a wristband. There is someone at the front of the line to make sure people don't move up. Simple. I've never seen an issue with it.

Add numbers to the wristbands/tickets, and its even easier. #200 doesn't get in until its #200's turn. Simple. This works at the deli at the supermarket, so I'm pretty sure it can work here.

I wish I could have seen this guy go all Bro Namath while he was in line. He was probably staring people down yelling, "If you're scared, say you're scared!"

Side note: It's not the breweries responsibility to keep people from acting like Brohemoths. They are there to provide a quality product worth your money. Just like Walmart isn't to blame for the morons that stampede each other like livestock on Black Friday. These breweries are busy putting time and money into making great beer, not buying wristbands and handing them out. People need to be smart enough to straighten this shit out on their own. With that said, people are not smart enough to straighten this shit out on their own. Therefore, someone or something is ultimately going to have to police them, less these situations presist.

So now we are in a bit of a conundrum: we have a need for organizing/policing of such events, but we also have a hoster of said event that is pre-occupied with a much more important task (making kick ass beer). So what now?

The solution: Increase the price of the bottles being sold by $1. With the money raised from that extra $1 you hire a security guard, but not just any security guard, a large jungle cat with a badge that says security.

Problem solved? I think so. I'll expect a flood of "thank you" beers coming from you all by next Friday at the latest.

CL does this and its just as bad as the situation mentioned here, they might as well not even use a ticket system if they are going to run it like that.
