I don't know why they haven't posted specific info like price and bottle limit...and also why they don't answer the phone, just would like some info to decide how to approach this. Do I need to bring people is it $15 or is it $50....haha not to fuel the price debate that occurs in every MBC thread but just would be nice to know

By moving several of their beers from single bottles to six or four packs I would say the price for the average Jacks Abby beer has gone down recently. I used to buy a lot of Peeper and Lunch when it was hard to find good, fresh, local hoppy beers in New England but that is no longer the case. MBC looks like a total rip off next to the likes of JA on the shelves.

They take the "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" approach.

Jack's Abby and MBC have tracked each other pretty closely in capacity for most of their existence. Even when JA was pumping out just a couple thousand barrels, Hoponius Union was still only $2-2.50/500mL, and DIPAs like Kiwi Rising were only $5. MBC, with about the same output, priced their beers 50-100% higher. Capacity is not an excuse for MBC's prices.

Prices do drop, but usually when a cheaper format is adopted. MBC's prices would effectively drop if they put Peeper into $15 4pks. That's how most breweries drop prices.

"Do what's right" (by making customers pay a higher price so we can donate 1% to save gorillas and get a tax write off)

I just never got the higher prices. And I know if I don't want to pay it no one is making me, and I spend my money elsewhere usually. Just wish they came down since MO is one of my favorite APAs.

But back on topic, this would be a beer I would love to try, just not if its going to be 2x more than comparable beers.

This x1000. MBCo is like a box of chocolates... That's why I seldom buy their beers anymore.

And this really seems to be bottle only. Lunch is still fantastic on tap. My guess is their bottle conditioning. Dinner was fantastic in the bottle but was not bottle conditioned.

I hope these new sours are better then their original sour offering a few years ago "Thank You Allan". That beer was sub par and incredibly expensive.

What are you paying for Lunch? And what price of Pliny are you referring to? I have paid different prices for Pliny in CA and different prices for Lunch in ME as well.

Pliny $5-5.50, Lunch $7-7.50. I suppose the difference in price is smaller if we use the brewery-direct price ($5.25 vs $6).

Imagine the day when a MBC thread is started and a pricing debate doesn't arise? Anyways, anyone that grabs it today I'd love to hear some thoughts on the brew. A buddy of mine is getting me one so I won't get to try it til Monday.

They said this morning on FB that they sold out of the Barrel Aged offering.

I know its been beat to death, but I really enjoy MBC, but only buy it every so often. I buy Lunch when I see it in MA for around $7 a bottle. I do buy MBC at bars because they are $7 or $8 and if I am paying $7 for a Union Jack or Flower Power which is a $2 bottle, then the delta is closer. But that is just my opinion.

Everything besides Lunch is readily available at multiple stores in my neighborhood. I like that they date the bottles so I can keep tabs on things.
