Still several at Tustin Total Wine.

Interesting discussion of how much is too much. I'd like at least 12 so I can drink one per month for a year. That doesn't seem like too much to me.

Costco fullerton didn't get it, closest one that has it is Costco in Culver City.

Did you get that beer at that price at Jimbo's? Do you shop there often?

I like the guy and 95% of his prices, but he has gouged on Deschuttes (e.g. Abyss and Mirror Mirror) and Firestone-Walker (Abacus, Parabola) releases. I don't blame him (it's easy money), but it is notable.

Not sure if it is still around, but both Mission Valley Bevmos had it today, both with 2 bottle limits. Funny - I ran into the same two guys at both stores, both there right before me. If you guys are BAs, I applaud your resourcefulness (though it hardly is rocket science to figure out  ).

How to Acquire Parabola in Southern California:

    1. Go To Bevmo.com and type up "Parabola" in "Search Box" on left hand corner few weeks before release.
    2. Select the "Notify Button" and input e-mail address in designated field and select closest Bevmo to you.
    3. Wait for "BevMo.com back in stock notification" email and when it arrives select "Please click on the product to place your order."
    4. Place Order.
    5. Go to Bevmo location selected in Step 2 and inquire about order.
    6. Follow store employee/manager and ask him for multiples if desired in which he replies "sure take as many as you like"
    7. Take 1-2 for you to consume and to share and leave the rest for others to try.
    8. Rate beer on this great sight.

I haven't found Bevmo's inventory tracking to be very accurate. For example, the Irvine store never showed any in stock when, in fact, they had it. Maybe it depends on the individual store.

Whoa, easy there turbo. I never assumed such thing. Perhaps you believe that I insinuated such thoughts thus, this is not the case. I'm not here to start fights nor do I want myself or others to piss & moan over trivial matters. It was just a thought, nothing more.

back to topic. Looks like bevmo in the southbay area was done for. They received 38 bottles yet when I arrived after work at 2pm, game over.

I was there early yesterday & was advised about the shipment however the missus got there at around 1:50 or so was told no more. Wowsers. I had a Strong feeling the other bevmo had received them as well but was told yesterday that three stores total (including themselves) would be the only stores to receive it yet that was not the case. My gut was right. What time did you arrive if you don't mind me asking?

Good thing you managed at both locations. Was there a line by any chance? As for jimbo's I've only heard of the place & it's pricing I suppose when it comes to some small shops it's a supply & demand type situation on special releases.

Bevmos in SD used to actually keep that up to date, but this release and last release they haven't sent out a single notification.

No liine, same two guys (who were driving together - probably worked together) in front of me at both places. It was around 11 AM.

I was going with my gut on this one, and called Mission Valley at about 10:30 to verify they had it. I simply guessed that MV North had it as well. I'm sure La Jolla got it as well today, but I'm done. I got mine; I'm not hoarding.

One of the few advantages of being unemployed.

Doesn't always work. The one by my work canceled my order 5 min after i placed it and it was only an hour after they received their shipment. But the one by my house still has some so it worked there.

Their online system is hit and miss. There are like 6 BevMos within 15 miles of me and I didn't get the notification from any of them. Went to 2 of them today, and was able to buy one bottle from each

I know I'm going to get slammed for writing this but here goes. IMHO, Im sure that the author of this post is the pillar of his/her beer community and knows alot more than me but I thnk that this is the lamest way to purchase these types of beers. To me; going to the stores and hunting the beers, interacting with my local craft beer commuity (meeting new people in the know, sharing information with noobs [ha! sometimes!]) and talking to old friends is the true essence of beer advocacy. When I started getting interestd in these types of beers I knew nothing about what stores got what and when. I was'nt even using this site! Over the past few years, through some good old on the ground work I have built up some good relationships with people and have learned a lot about the beer scene in the area that I live in. It took a lot of hard (and fun) work but I learned a lot each year and it got easier over time. I understand that this is the way people shop these days, I'm just old school and always will be (I stilll pay my bills via postal service!)

Thats my rant for the day, I'll step down from the soapbox now.

I agree with him that this is the easiest way to obtain THESE beers, because bevmo sucks for getting most beers. now other beers yeah i agree that it is part of the fun to hunt them down and interact with other people who like beer as much as i do but for Firestone releases this is the best way

Can't wait for the Venice Firestone location!

It was sure nice driving through Buellton this past weekend though! Case of Feral One and a case of Parabola no sweat (could've gotten 2!), Not looking forward to chasing trucks for Stickee Monkee though.

I do all those things also, this method worked for me this time around and I thought I would share it. Working full time and having other commitments it's kind of hard to be "going to the stores and hunting the beers" and it's even more frustrating when people who have a part time job at Subway and do have that time purchase the majority of allotments.

Outside of stealing, I don't think there is a "lame" way to acquire good craft beer, sharing locations, prices, methods and the beer itself is what I aim for and we all should also even if they are noobs. However still paying bills via postal service yea that's pretty effin lame.

And here I thought that sharing good beer with good friends was the point...apparently, I've been doing this all wrong for the past thirteen years.

Seriously, all of this stuff about the hunt being part of the fun...no, it's not. It used to be fun to walk into a store and find BCBS or Cantillon collecting dust on a shelf, but those days are long gone. If you enjoy driving around and the thrill of the chase, that's your prerogative, but that has grown tired for a lot of people. I want to acquire the beers I want to drink with the least amount of effort so I can enjoy drinking them. People who thump their chests about beer karma and beer advocacy are free to do so, but you'll realize in time that it's a distraction from the real purpose of enjoying good beer.
