    Hey guys,

I have been into craft beers for awhile but really just started using this website. I was never a big IPA fan until recently. I was looking for suggestions for good IPAs to try. I can't stand ones that taste like I'm sucking on a penny.

    Thanks

What have you tried that you don't like? "Sucking on a penny" doesn't give much to go on.

Go for Stone. All of their IPAs are good and they are relatively cheap.

Too sweet in my opinion. Everone was raving over them and Chillwave this year...I was like...not sure if sugar water or my tasebuds have been compromised by the likes of Hop Juju in the weeks before.

Try Chillwave, if you get Great Lakes. Seekabrew says you do... Great IPA and not overbearing...

I would also recommend Stone IPA. Good starting point to see what you like and usually available just about everywhere.

I would also suggest Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA.

Find somewhere that does mixed 6 packs. Get whatever is reasonably fresh. Drink them all. When you find one (or more) you like, look up what hops are used so you can narrow what you like. Rinse/repeat.

Also, if you find an IPA you like, try the pale ale they make too. Like Big Eye vs. Sculpin. Furious vs. Abrasive. Etc. Might be surprised.

You've been a member since mid-2011, but just started using this website... believable from your post counts, but impressive considering your initial sign-up date!

I'd try the straight Lagunitas IPA before Sucks. Also Racer 5 is a great starter IMO. Someone already mentioned the Dogfish Heads. Those are good too.

Sucking on a penny? Never had the pleasure. I apologize ahead of time if those beers taste like penny to you.

Two Hearted Ale, if you don't like this one don't bother with anything else.

I find Sierra Nevada Torpedo to be pretty user friendly- the fresher the better, though.

I'd say Stone IPA and Lagunitas IPA are good for starters. Approachable and easily found.

Harpoon IPA could be a good place to start...it doesn't stand up to some of the 'big boys', but is it really easy to drink. To be honest, it was one of the beers that got me into IPAs.
