 That would be Anheuser-Busch's "Budweiser", that for over a century has boasted of it's use of rice as adjunct, and not corn?

Nd the article complains about use of "fish bladder" without specifying which one and why. People see the word "bladder " and they think it means urine. As we all know, isinglass in made from the swim bladder, is added to clarify the beer, drops out of suspension and is likely filtered out anyway. There may be a few moleclues left, but don't know for sure. Cask beer will often have it there, but not always.
Also, I sort of hate the argument about GMO. Some is bad - or at least the research isn't in, but every time throughout history we have cross-bred something for and reason, we are genetically modifying it. That strain of barley or corn for better yeild, that tomato to be slightly tougher skin to get to market in good shape? Heck that dachshund so it could get into holes and those retrievers to be good swimmers.

I am going to not get into this GMO/Anti GMO thing, that's a different discussion.

The ironic thing for myself personally that I've found is the vast majority of advertised "organic" beers I have had just do not taste good compared to their other counterparts.

I find this advice particularly funny. If one is to be so serious about the things they choose to ingest, I would think visiting the production facility and hopefully having some sort of relationship with the people there would be a big plus. Not impossible to do under that advice, but definitely a lot more difficult (given the FDA reference, I'm assuming this is targeted toward those in the US).

It was really disappointing (and a little surprising) to read that Newcastle uses caramel coloring in their brown ale. Makes me wonder what they're using in their black ale.

A wonderful game of "spot the correct fact".
You could play it for hours.
    Caramel is made from ammonia?
I see that #7 on the list of harmful ingredients is "natural flavors" I'm still trying to puzzle that one out.

Most of those beers should not be drank(?) for taste reasons. I agree the comment section was actually informative, most confirming my thoughts on the sky is falling crowd.

It seems to be a hacking away at the ankles of giants approach with this article. I agree it is good to avoid GMO's though.

That article is absolutely ridiculous. I'm surprised they didn't use the term "Frankeinbeers".

I should think anyone who is trolling Beer Advocate isn't a regular drinker of these beers - and anything in moderation isn't going to hurt you. There are a lot of other reasons why I don't drink Budweiser, yet I find it refreshing now and then. Same goes for all the other beers on this list. Also, when you're drinking a nice craft beer, accompanied by your favorite bag of chips, beef jerky, or just about any other snack that doesn't come from Whole Foods, you are likely eating many things that are much worse for you, in greater quantities. Like to smoke while you drink? The list goes on, it's all relative. So while I find this article slightly interesting, I'm surprised it popped up on Beer Advocate and even more surprised I took the time to comment on it!

But look back into the history of British beers, plenty of them used invert sugar and caramel to change the color, its not a new concept to make beer with the flavor profile you want but to add caramel to adjust the color is over 100+ years old.

As for the rest of this GMO/Non GMO mumbojumbo those beers are rarely rarely consumed so its a non issue i will leave it up to the consumer and to those brave men and women who decide what we put in our bodies, FDA/HC and personal discretion.

Does guiness really have HFCS or did the author confuse it with lactose? I have a hard time believing that.

There is so much fail in this article. "ammonia, which is classified as a carcinogen" Uh. No.

Really a lot of the statments aren't even put together correctly... just because Newcastle uses caramel coloring doesn't mean that its class 3 or class 4 they just extrapolate from there...

Quite a few milds are bitters plus caramel. One real belter of a brew is RamTam from Timothy Taylor's :http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/2150/5563/
