I'm going to do a stout tasting some day soon three years of KBS (14',13',12') two different years of BCBS(12',13) plus FBS, ten-fidy, FIS, and Yeti (non BA).... Just to do some tasting notes, and to have a good side by side comparison and if I survive this I will report on it LOL!

Ok, I'm sold - I'm going to get a FIS 4 pack tomorrow. I am skeptical about FIS in comparison to FBS, but I'm sure it's solid either way. Now to wait until the late fall to open it...

Scranton is backwater. Not even any KBS here.

I would agree that FIS and their Porter are similar, and I would say that FIS is one of if not my favorite "plain" stouts (non-BA, nothing added). I have a two year old bottle that I just took out of the cellar that really wants to be consumed.

As for my two cents on the FBS/FIS deal: drink your FBS fresh, cellar your FIS! Just my opinion.

I drank mine at cellar temp, which was over a 30 minute time frame. Many different flavor profiles as the beer warmed. At what temp do you guys usually prefer a beer of this style?? Also, do you like these beers in warmer climates, like the summer time? I know, I do!

I was literally just thinking about this. I've had all their big stouts (KBS, FBS, BWB), and their "standard" stout is easily my favorite. It's too bad it's not year-round, because I like it more than Ten Fidy (which is also quite good, admittedly), and it's currently probably my 2nd favorite non-BA stout, behind Surly's Darkness.

I actually like it aged a year or more rather than fresh.

My favorite is Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. It's not year-round but they brew enough of it that it can stays on the shelve most of the year.

I have access to Brooklyn's Black Chocolate Stout and wasn't too impressed. In fact, my dissatisfaction prompted me to search, and eventually Founders was the best I've tried. It's OK, but I just get too much licorice and a sour taste with the Brooklyn, and not too much chocolate. It's a good deal for the price, though.

IMO their imperial is better than b-fast, I love b-fast by founders, but their impy is so so so good, chocolatey and really roasty, perfect balance you should pick some up

Yeah, that's a really good one too, and is so cheap it's a steal.

My favorite RIS for sure. There are several other regulars I like, such as Ten Fidy, Old Rasputin and Storm King, but I would take FIS over these every time. Just wish it was year round.
