I just got my hands on a few bottles of the 2014 New Belgium La Folie, and of course I had to sample one and to me it tasted very young. I was hoping to get some recommendations on how long to cellar as I dont recall seeing any suggestions on the bottle and am fairly new to cellaring. Thanks to all ahead of time for the suggestions.

New Belgium strongly advises against aging La Folie. The beer is already carefully aged and blended and is meant to be drunk as is. There is a good article/interview linked on these forums somewhere, I'll see if I can find it when I'm not posting from my phone.

Pretty sure its pastureized, so it's not gonna cellar well.

One thing I would add is that while it doesn't age "well" since it's pasteurized, it still holds up nicely for years. My wife is a huge fan of the beer and we have bottles going back to 09 which still drink nicely. Some of the vintages are blended better than the others. Also, if anyone gets a chance to check out the new belgium tour, they are offering samples of oscar which is the pre soured version of la folie... Pretty cool to taste the difference between the two.

Don't know what an anagram is, but when two slices of amercan cheese are sandwiched and fried in butter between buttered whole wheat that is squeezed between thick cut ham simmered in butter the hamagram is born.

I believe some of the older ones (with a c&c packaging) are not pasturized and can be aged. Not sure which year they started pasturizing.

'09. That year, they had both the C&C and the capped versions. After that, sadness broke upon fans of the beer and the great C&C depression began.

Had a 2011 two weeks ago. Definitely not the same beer, very leathery, but still good. I wouldn't go past a year on a bottle though since it begins to take on such a different character.

Just saw another shipment of the 2013 show up on shelves around here, sometime last week I believe. I guess the distributors are clearing out stock to make room for the 2014?

I would assume Le Terroir wouldn't age well either.....
