so my beer fridge is over capacity, and with summer coming, i need to make some room in there for stuff i have on the way. i have a bunch of beer that isn't super rare, but are mostly great beers that i'd hate to watch sit there in the heat before i can get to them. i was thinking of trying to do a volume trade where i send off 8-10 good shelf turds (cigar city, ommegang, stone, etc) in the hopes of landing 1 bottle of something more rare or that i've never had before. what are the odds of this ending well for me?
I would bet that most people into trading aren't looking volumes of shelf turds. I would just host a tasting and open them up. Maybe invite a few non-beer nerd types to introduce them to craft beer.
Yes, I have done two so far and will most likely be doing one soon for the exact same reason as you. Here is one I did for some Heady Topper. Take a look at how I structured it to get an idea.
ah ok... very cool. could get spendy with around 30 22oz and 750ml bottles, but i may do that with some of it! thanks for the idea!
