Exactly. Rogue has been making many bad beers for many years and are still healthy.

The OP has been a member of BA for 7 years and asks in his 1st ever post if a brewery most of us hold up as "World Class" is done because he didn't like the way his beer tasted? :astonished:
This has to be a joke, right?
Stay tuned for the fall of Russian River in 2021!!!!

The corks were fine. And they took a lot of work to remove due to the absence of pressure in the bottle. These bottles came from multiple shops, all have pretty quick turnaround on their stock.

Btw I'm not the first person to have remarked on Unibroue's quality control since they were bought out and supersized. A little googling will turn up other reports.

Dude, those beers are imprinted on my palate and I know how they are supposed to taste. Completely flat and sugary, not.

And in case anyone missed it the first time:

    1. The fault is obviously failed bottle fermentation. Flat and syrupy sweet.

    2. If you think stuff sits on shelves here, you don't know New Orleans, probably the drunkest city in the western hemisphere.

Everyday on BA, I find a new "worst thread ever." Congrats jlafitte, you are today's winner!

It's telling that no one else has reported the same issues as you, though. That doesn't mean your experience isn't valid, but it does imply that your experience isn't representative of the quality of their beer.

in all of my years of drinking unibroue whenever I found it - particularly maudite, la terrible, and la fin du monde - I have never had this happen. I'm sorry that you've had such an experience.

Like Pieman, I've Been drinking Unibroue for ages. I've never had a flat bottle. I've had a few here and there that were not as good as they should have been but it was bad storage, usually by me, not anything they did wrong.

This is your thread and it is not my place to suggest that you word things differently but…

If in your original post you detailed the issues you had with some Unibroue beers and asked if other BAs have experienced these same issues (plus if you titled the post with something like “I have had some flat Unibroue beers lately”) you will likely receive a more positive response.

    Cheers!

(scratching head...) ok here are several more reports:

I'm actually happy for everyone that these bottles are outliers, but that doesn't change the increasingly poor crapshoot I perceive when laying down eight or ten bucks for another.

poor thread title to convey your disappointment, but that aside, Sapporo, the owner of Unibroue, may still be able to operate if you never buy another bottle. Just a tad over $5.1 billion in sales last year. http://www.sapporoholdings.jp/english/ir/report/fs/pdf/201303_FinancialResults.pdf

Eh I'll pick up the slack and buy extra just to be sure they stay in the black, enjoy Unibroue and Yebisu.

I opened a completely flat Terrible last week and I've had multiple split corks that required a corkscrew. I love the brewery but I really don't like this.

I've had two flat La Fin Du Mondes and a flat Maudite last weekend.
I emailed the brewery Saturday, with the bottle code, etc, no word yet...
    (All corked 750s)
Either too young to market, or a yeast issue maybe?

Given the rating trends of Unibroue's popular beers (La Fin du Monde, Maudite, Trois Pistoles), I'd say they're doing just fine. That said, it sucks to hear that your bottles were below standard.
